Outspoken lawyer, Miguna Miguna, has urged Uganda's opposition leader, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, to desist from making comparisons between the two countries.

Bobi Wine, during a Citizen TV interview on Thursday, November 17 recounted his experience of observing the August 9 elections in the country, adding that he was mesmerised by the freedom Kenyans currently enjoy, including an internet connection that ran uninterrupted during the polling period.

He was also amazed by how the elections went on without a hitch.

"I was astonished after arriving at the airport before the election day, and the internet was still on and it continued to be on during the election.

"I did not see anyone being abducted anywhere or military everywhere, and I did not see the opponents of the incumbent under house arrest," Bobi Wine told Citizen TV anchor, Waihiga Mwaura.

The musician added that Ugandans were jealous of Kenya's level of democracy compared to their own which had issues.

"But again, democracy is always just a step away from extinction, so you must guard it jealously, " he added.

Wine however advised Kenyans against entertaining any form of dictatorship from their leaders, commending the country for enjoying a transition of power, unlike Uganda which has had President Yoweri Museveni rule the country since January 29, 1986.

"I told you to guard your constitution before it's too weak to guide you. Constitutions are supposed to be bigger than leaders and presidents.

"You have had the privilege of watching one leader peacefully hand over power to another leader. You don't want to lose that," the opposition leader remarked.

Miguna on Saturday, November 19 however poked holes in his comparison, revealing cases of innocent Kenyans being abducted, including two Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) returning officers who were killed during the polls.

He also revisited the assault on IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati and two commissioners at Bomas of Kenya on the road to declaring President William Ruto the winner of the August polls on Monday, August 15.

"Innocent Kenyans were abducted, threatened and harassed, including two IEBC returning officers who were murdered.

"The chair of IEBC and two commissioners was physically assaulted at the Bomas of Kenya. Stop this silly comparison between Kenya and Uganda!" he wrote.
