Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki on Wednesday, May 31 hinted at landmark arrests of individuals alleged to have stormed the Northlands City Farm in Ruiru, Kiambu County on Monday, March 27, which belongs to the family of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

While addressing the press from his Harambee House office, Kindiki, in his update on the matter, revealed that the authorities launched investigations into the daring raid which concurred with the Azimio la Umoja protests.

He noted that once done, the suspects would be nabbed and arraigned in court soon. More than two months later, no one has been arrested over the incident.

The CS further expressed that the investigations and swift action on the matter had taken time as the raid became a subject of intense political conversation across the country.

"What happened in Northlands is a serious crime and I want to report we have undertaken investigations and we will be arraigning some suspects very soon.

"It has taken a bit of time because of the politicization around it. And I have said to you Kenyans, we don’t want to politicize national security," he stated.

He then read the riot act to politicians affiliated with the Kenya Kwanza government and the opposing Azimio la Umoja coalition, warning that some leaders allied to the government would face criminal charges.

"Some of the political leaders who have been fanning violent attacks on property and police officers in Kericho and Bomet are Kenya Kwanza politicians and they will have to be arrested once we conclude investigations," he added.

The CS stamped his authority against political leaders inciting Kenyans to unrest and threatening to arrest them regardless of which coalition they are allied to.

"All the leaders who are facilitating Kenyans to run down our country and take it through a slippery path of lawlessness, we will arrest you, we will charge you, whether you are in Kenya Kwanza, Azimio or you have no party," he added.

CS Kindiki was speaking on Wednesday during a press briefing on the State of Security in the country six months after he assumed office.

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday, May 22 broke his silence on the matter at Ngong Racecourse during the Jubilee Party's National Delegates Convention (NDC).

"We handed over power in peace, publicly and in broad daylight. I stayed quiet even when they insulted me, stole my goats and set my farm on fire, all while thinking I was being threatened," Uhuru opened up.

During the raid, over 1,400 Dorper sheep worth over Ksh70 million were stolen and carried away by the intruders on their shoulders, who seized the opportunity to make quick cash by selling them for as little as Ksh1,000 to passersby.

The animals were returned to the farm at different times by people who told staff there they did not want to be cursed.

Northlands City farm security manager, Patrick Masinde, on Thursday, April 13 revealed that the farm recovered 18 Dorper sheep stolen from the property which was invaded by more than a thousand goons.

Coincidentally, the raid occurred on the same day former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga's East Africa Spectre gas company was raided, leading to speculations that the two Azimio leaders were targets of a coordinated plot during the Azimio protests.
