Speaking during the unveiling ceremony, Mwangaza revealed that she joined the party following a series of consultations and prayers.

She also declared her readiness to work with the party and defend her gubernatorial seat in the 2027 elections via the President William Ruto-led party ticket.

"I have prayed and asked God to give us direction. So today I have to say that this is the sign and the party is UDA. There is no secret here, in 2027 I will be a UDA candidate," she announced.

"President William Ruto is my friend and this is the party that respects and gives opportunities to women."

Mwangaza further extended an olive branch to Meru leaders, urging them to drop their political differences and work together for the sake of the county.

Mbarire, the Embu Governor, echoed her sentiments, adding that the party was willing to support the Meru Governor in eliminating the rows that have emerged in the county ever since she took office.

“I take this opportunity as the UDA Chair, and a neighbour of Meru County, to state that the to heal Meru County is now here,” stated Cecily Mbarire.

Kawira Mwangaza won the seat as a Woman representative for Meru County in 2017 after she vied as an independent candidate and similarly in 2022 when she vied for the Governor position.

Her term as Meru Governor has been a messy one filled with political wrangles that have seen her escape three attempts by Members of the County Assembly (MCA) to impeach her from office.
