Deputy Chief of Staff for Performance and Delivery Management Eliud Owalo has appointed six individuals to the Government Delivery Unit (GDU) to boost communication and stakeholder engagement.

In a statement on Sunday, January 5, Owalo revealed that the team will help improve the government's communication with stakeholders and positioning of its initiatives.

“The focus is to ensure clear communication about government plans and their progress,” he explained.

Two of the new appointments are former KTN journalists; Boniface Odinga and Patrick Amimo. Below are the profiles of the new appointments:

Carole Mandi

The renowned Strategic Communications Advisor, publisher, and editor is expected to lead the GDU team.

Her illustrious career includes roles as Advisor to the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Communications and Digital Economy, publisher of various magazines; managing editor of True Love Magazine, and sub-editor at the Nation Media Group. 

Mandi holds a Doctorate from Veridian Christian University (USA), an MBA from the University of Stellenbosch Business School, and a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and Literature from Moi University.

Boniface Odinga

Odinga brings a wealth of experience, having lectured in Journalism at the United States International University- Africa (USIU) and Maseno University and served as Director of Communications in the County Government of Siaya. 

Patrick Amimo

The veteran journalist and former Standard Group Bureau Chief joins the team with a solid media background, including stints as a KTN News anchor, news editor at Express TV, and senior reporter at NTV

Amimo holds a Bachelor’s degree from Moi University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communications from the University of Nairobi’s School of Journalism.  

Wambui Ng’ayu

Ng’ayu is a versatile advertising and branding specialist, who also brings media expertise to the GDU team. She has worked with Scanad, Nuturn Bates, and Transcend Media, and previously held roles at NTV and K24

She holds a Postgraduate Degree in Branding from Goldman Sachs-New York, USA, and a Bachelor’s degree from Strathmore Business School.

Archie Achieng Ojany-Alai

Ojany-Alai joins the GDU with extensive experience in marketing and leadership. She previously served as Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Sports in Kisumu County and worked at Leo Burnett Advertising in London and McCann Erickson in Kenya. 

Ojany-Alai holds a Master’s degree in Advanced Marketing from Kingston University, London, a postgraduate degree in Leadership from Oxford University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Nairobi.

Alloyce Obare

The Product Development, Branding, and Delivery Specialist, also joins the team, having served as a Delivery Advisor in the Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, as well as Chief of Staff in Siaya County. 

Obare holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Digital Communications from London Metropolitan University, UK.  

According to Owalo, the six personalities have been onboarded to strengthen communication and stakeholder engagement in all aspects of Performance and Delivery in government.

They are mandated to position the government, its leadership, projects and programmes effectively as viable products in the marketplace.
