President William Ruto on Friday, May 2, expressed confidence in the English Premier League (EPL) football club, Arsenal, winning the UEFA Champions League in a few weeks' time- something they have never done before since the club was formed in 1886.
Speaking at State House when he received the prestigious trophy, Ruto expressed confidence in Arsenal's ability to knock out Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the Champions League semi-finals next week on Wednesday.

"As has been said, I am an Arsenal supporter, and I hope they overturn the one-nil loss to PSG this week when they meet in Paris next Wednesday and advance to the finals to hopefully lift this trophy," he said.
"Since I am the last to hold it. I am praying for my team so that this year they lift this trophy in the finals. Whichever team you are rooting for, let us enjoy the game."
Arsenal will travel to Paris, France, for the second leg at the Parc Des Princes stadium on Wednesday, May 7. The Gunners head into the upcoming match trailing by one goal after a disappointing home defeat to PSG at the Emirates Stadium in London on Tuesday, April 29.
PSG winger Ousmane Dembélé struck early, finding the net just four minutes into the game to secure a crucial lead for the French side in this high-stakes encounter.
Should Arsenal overturn their deficit against PSG, they will play the winner of the other semi-final match between Serie A's Inter Milan and Spanish La Liga's Barcelona, and feature in their first Champions League final since 2006, when they lost to Barcelona.
Meanwhile, the UEFA Champions League trophy, arguably the biggest prize in club football, arrived in Kenya, in the final leg of a month-long global tour that kicked off in Vietnam on April 7. The trophy was presented to President Ruto at State House, Nairobi.
Football legend, Bastian Schweinsteiger, a 2013 UCL winner, joined the 2025 global tour covering Vietnam, Indonesia, South Africa, Zambia and Kenya, alongside fellow UEFA officials.
The tour is aimed at giving hardcore football fans a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the ultimate prize in club football up close and take photos with it.
