Ruto To Build State Lodge In Meru [VIDEO]
The President laughed off critics who complained regarding his numerous visits to Meru in his bid to bring government presence closer to the region.
President William Ruto on Sunday, September 10 opened up on his plans to build a State Lodge accommodation facility in Meru County.
Speaking during a church service in Laare, Meru County, the Head of State told congregants that he had secured a piece of land in the Mt Kenya region-based county which he will use to put up the new Executive residence.
Ruto added that he was motivated by the need to easily address a myriad of issues affecting Meru County that have frustrated the leadership of Governor Kawira Mwangaza, wrangles the Head of State revealed he was aware of.

"I have found government land here in Meru and I want to build a State Lodge.
"What will those complaining that I have come to Meru many times do because I will stay here? I want to build that State Lodge so that we handle Meru issues from here," he expressed.
Ruto told Meru residents that soon, they would not need to travel to the actual State House in Nairobi in order to voice their concerns as the proposed State Lodge would lessen that burden, allowing him to plan for other parts of the country.
"There's no need for you to come to Nairobi. I will come and stay here so that we quickly deal with some of your small matters," he promised.
What Are State Lodges In Kenya & How Many Are They?
State lodges are places used by the President of Kenya for official and private functions. They are a symbol of the power and prestige of the Kenyan government and are located in scenic and secluded areas.
Equipped with state-of-the-art security features, State lodges offer a variety of amenities, including swimming pools, tennis courts, and golf courses.
Kenya currently has three official state houses, located in Nairobi, Mombasa, and Nakuru. The government has also officially gazetted five State Lodges located in Kisumu, Sagana, Garissa, Kisii, and Kakamega.
If the president fulfils his commitment to constructing an additional lodge in Meru, the tally of official residences designated for Kenya’s head of state will increase to nine, reflecting a notable expansion in official presidential accommodations.
