The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Royal Media Services (RMS) and Nation Media Group (NMG) have launched platforms for Kenyans to access presidential election results as they stream in.

The commission had opened its official platform shortly after it had closed voting across all polling centres in the country at 5 pm, with a few exceptions for polling stations which witnessed delays during the process.

NMG has been running theirs concurrently alongside the RMS through its Citizen Digital website platform, however, the results are only provisional, pending the announcement of the final results by the IEBC.

How To Check on the IEBC platform

The platform features 48 counties; that is 47 in Kenya and the lone county being the diaspora. This is despite less than 5,000 Kenyans living abroad voting in the last election.

To access the platform, visit this link: IEBC - Forms portal

The portal has all the counties arranged in alphabetic order, starting with Baringo County and concluding with West Pokot.

It also shows a live representation of votes counted per county against the registered voters as well as the live update of the reported forms 34A.

Those interested in following the results specifically can access a specific county, then a constituency, then the polling station and the stream in which they voted in.

The Nation.Africa website also has a live update of the provisional results, although it shows the percentage of the four presidential candidates; Deputy President William Ruto of the United Democratic Alliance, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga of the Azimio la Umoja, George Luchiri Wajackoyah of Roots Party and David Mwaure of the Agano Party.

It also features a live map showing the counties that have recorded presidential results, with the colours of the dominant parties of the presidential candidates shown.

Just like the IEBC, one can further access the results from the constituency level.

How To Check on RMS platform

Royal Media Services (RMS) also has its own tallying platform which offers a breakdown of the categories of President, Governor, Senator, Woman Representative, and Member of Parliament (MP).

It also gives live updates of results per county of the four presidential candidates and includes the prisons category. It can be accessed here: Elections Portal (citizen.digital)

IEBC announced that at around 4 pm, 12,065,803 out of 22,120,458 registered voters had cast their votes. This had equated to 56.17 per cent of voter turnout excluding voting through the manual register.

This was against a total of 22,120,458, with an estimation by the commission of around 60 per cent, which would form the lowest in Kenya's voting history.

In 2017 the final turnout was 78 per cent for the General Election while in 2013, the turnout was 86 per cent. The 2007 poll had 68 per cent of the registered voters casting their ballots.
