Thugs Posing As Police Shoot DCI Cop In Nairobi Estate
Posing as police officers, the thugs flagged down Mwange’s vehicle and asked him where he was headed to.

A forensic expert based at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)’s Forensic Fingerprint Identification Bureau is fighting for his life at the Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral hospital after he was attacked by armed gangsters on Friday morning, January 6 at Kahawa West in Nairobi.
According to the DCI's statement, Joseph Mwange was headed home in his vehicle accompanied by his wife from a party in Roysambu at around 4 am, when a four-man gang accosted them along Kamiti road, close to Jacaranda estate.
Posing as police officers, the thugs flagged down Mwange’s vehicle and asked him where he was headed to. In response, he told them that he was headed home not far away and they let him proceed.

"But unbeknownst to the detective, the thugs trailed his vehicle and as he stopped to open the gate to his home in Maziwa estate, one of them opened fire and shot him before escaping into the darkness.
"His wife immediately rushed him to Kenyatta University hospital where he is currently admitted at the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition," stated the DCI in part.
A contingent of sleuths from three specialized units has since been dispatched on a manhunt for the armed gangsters, with DCI warning that their "moment of arrest is nigh".
"The Director of Criminal Investigations, Mohamed Amin, wishes detective Mwange a speedy recovery and sends his loved ones lots of love from the DCI family, following the unfortunate incident," added the DCI.
On December 21, 2022, a thug who attacked a middle-aged woman was shot dead by DCI detectives after he turned back and attacked the corporal leading the chase with a machete, missing his jugular vein by a whisker.
"In a swift rejoinder, the officer opened fire fatally wounding the suspect as his two accomplices dropped their machetes and took flight to the house of God while flying their arms high in surrender.
"At this point, the determined officers got persuaded to abort their mission and gave the thugs hiding behind the pulpit the second lease of life to preach the good gospel and become productive members of society," added the DCI.
The showdown took place at a church in Mathare, Nairobi.
