Actress Brenda Wairimu's Instagram post on Thursday, March 2 set the internet on fire and intensified with her announcement that she was off the market.

Draped in a red dress, Wairimu posed for a selfie with a man donning a white shirt, which she uploaded on the social media platform and captioned "That's my fiance".

This led to an outpouring of comments with fans and fellow thespians among others penning congratulatory messages to her, ranging from Sarah Hassan to Chris Kirwa.

Many believed that she had finally found love once again since her previous marriage to rapper Julius 'Juliani' Owino, with the mother of one daughter by the name Amor Njeri, known largely to keep her relationship life off social media.

Viral Tea has now established that the man in the photo was film, stage and television actor Brian Ogola, who stars alongside Wairimu in the movie Disconnect 2: The Wedding Planner and the engagement was part of the movie's storyline.

The movie that premiered on Netflix on January 13, 2023, is a sequel to the 2018 popular Kenyan movie Disconnect and promises to bring all the drama and chaos as it delves into a rather confused case of wedding planning.

"After falling victim to a scam, a desperate man races the clock as he attempts to plan a luxurious destination wedding for an important investor," reads its synopsis.

The 1 hour and 46 minutes long movie features most of the cast from the first movie including Kate Kamau, Brenda Wairimu and Patricia Kihoro as well as popular actor Pascal Tokodi.

Capital FM presenter Wanjira Longauer is also part of the star-studded cast and she plays the role of the maid of honour in this wedding fiasco.

“The film humbles you because the hours can be gruelling, things can be confusing because there are many people on set— it’s a whirlwind. But I love every moment of it, I guess that’s why I studied filmmaking. When you watch the final product and it’s how you wanted it to be, you swell with pride.

“I have many talents. I’ve always felt that I’ve been kind of boxed in by the industry and I seek to change that,” Wanjira revealed to the station.

The two movies are available to stream on Netflix, though they are not yet available on the free mobile plan for Android phones.

Wairimu, who was born and raised in Mombasa on May 3, 1989, studied International Business Management at the United States International University- Africa (USIU) with a minor in Broadcast Media.

She has appeared in popular television shows such as Changing Times, Mali, Shuga, Kona, Skandals Kibao and Monica as well as films such as 18 Hours, Disconnect 1 & 2 and Subira.
