A section of rowdy street boys blocked Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja's motorcade as he made an impromptu visit to the Central Business District (CBD) on Thursday night, November 23.

Sakaja's convoy was forced to stop in the middle of City Hall Way around the Kencom bus stage as one of the street boys verbally demanded that he address their plight before he was joined by the other street children.

A group of women and children affiliated with them was seen closely surrounding the governor's vehicle amidst the presence of armed police officers and bodyguards ready to act in case of any incidences they may cause.

One of the bodyguards could be seen pushing away the rowdy street children who were scrambling to grab the attention of the county boss.

Meanwhile, the street boy who blocked the path of Sakaja's car was seen holding a rod as the vehicle kept hooting for him to get out of the way, as he showed Sakaja what appeared to be his injured left leg in a plea for him to ensure that he received medical attention.

Nonetheless, the security personnel moved him out of the way so that Sakaja's vehicle could pass through.

Some street urchins complained that the boy was injured, and others condemned the bodyguards for what they claimed was an inhumane act.

The kids then began tailing the governor's car in a rush in a bid to stop him again but were blocked by police officers.

One of the cops was captured grabbing the limping boy from behind and yanking him to the ground, leaving him protesting to the cops as they drove off.

Despite the episodic confrontation, Sakaja did not address the issues raised by the street kids.

Sakaja was in the capital on Thursday night in the company of engineers and contractors amidst plans to commence works on the city's walkways.

"Late last night in the CBD together with our chief of staff, team of engineers and awarded contractors as we aligned on major improvement works on walkways set to commence downtown next week.

"Our Green Army mko top! Nairobi is flowing. Thanks for the great work you are doing on our drainage system," he added, praising Nairobi County employees cleaning drainages amid the El Nino rains.
