Vendors Cash In On WRC Safari Rally Boom As Coca-Cola Supports Local Businesses
Thousands of motorsport fans have flocked to Naivasha since Thursday, boosting businesses ranging from food stalls to accommodation services.

As the 2025 World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally concludes on Sunday at Naivasha’s Hell’s Gate, it’s not just the rally winners who are celebrating—local vendors have also reaped big from the event.
Thousands of motorsport fans have flocked to Naivasha since Thursday, boosting businesses ranging from food stalls to accommodation services. Among those who have benefited is Teresia Wambui, a beverage vendor from Gilgil, Nakuru County, who describes the rally as a major boost to her business.
“The weather has been mostly hot, except for some showers near Sleeping Warrior in Elmenteita. My stock of 200ml Coke, Fanta, and Sprite has been selling out every hour, likely due to the heat and affordability of the drinks. Fortunately, Coca-Cola has supported us by restocking whenever we run out,” Wambui said.
She added that she has been waking up as early as 5 a.m. to set up at prime viewing spots, ensuring rally fans have easy access to refreshments.
Peter Mwangi, another vendor from Naivasha, said Coca-Cola provided him with coolers and subsidized stock, allowing him to make extra profits during the event.
“As Coca-Cola, we have partnered with KCB for this year’s WRC Safari Rally, which has been an exciting opportunity. We get to engage with our vendors outside Nairobi and offer them great deals on beverages,” said Weslene Orwoba, Senior Marketing Manager at Coca-Cola Kenya.
“The rally takes place in remote areas where shops and distribution points are scarce, so we’ve brought our trucks to them, ensuring they make good money from the event,” Orwoba added.
Apart from soft drinks, other Coca-Cola brands that have been in high demand include Schweppes, the ultimate mixer for refreshing beverages and elevating cordials, and Keringet, the premium mineral water naturally sourced from the Molo Highlands.
Beyond beverages, businesses dealing in nyama choma, alcoholic drinks, Airbnb rentals, and hotels have also enjoyed a surge in customers.
Sunday’s final leg of the rally featured five thrilling stages—Mzabibu 2 (8.27km), Oserengoni 1 (18.33km), Hell’s Gate 1 (10.53km), Oserengoni 2 (18.33km), and Hell's Gate 2 (10.53km)—promising an exciting conclusion to the motorsport spectacle.
