A day after making insensitive remarks threatening to continue the killing of women in Kenya, a man who claimed to represent the street political group 'Bunge la Wananchi' was chased away by angry activists protesting rising cases of femicide in the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) on Saturday, January 27.

A video shared by former Citizen TV sports anchor Mukami Wambora showed the man with his mini-dreads dyed gold frogmarched by a man in a blue hoodie and wearing a cap out of Jeevanjee Gardens in Nairobi where the peaceful protests took place.

The defiant individual appeared at the femicide march following his rant captured on camera on Friday, January 26, however, he was met with hostility by the protesters and had to be whisked away before he could be overpowered.

"The audacity of this guy to show up to the #EndFemicideKE March today after his vile rant yesterday. We were having none of it!!! Kicked him out proper! We are not negotiating for our lives!" Wambora captioned a video she shared on her Instagram page.

Here is the video:

Another clip shared by X user Joy Wambui and seen by Viral Tea showed the individual, identified by his nickname Ronaldo, appearing to negotiate with the protesters who were unwilling to give an audience.

On Friday, the man was captured alongside his colleague approached a group of protesters to air out their views and make their stance known on the femicide epidemic.

Unashamedly, his colleague, dressed in a black cardigan, a blue checked shirt and black pants, began by criticising women rights activists for failing to address issues surrounding men, arguing that 'men have suffered' and thus women must also face the consequences of their perceived actions.

"This is Bunge la Mwananchi bana. Let me tell you...Men have suffered because of these women. It has also affected us, we have daughters...," the man argued.

In the meantime, one of his colleagues joined him and strongly affirmed that Kenyan men will consequently continue killing women, stating without consequence "We are going to kill you!"

"We are going to kill you, we are going to kill you. I cannot take you to Pizza, you eat my money. You women are going to die. Ati you want a man's money? Come on! You will die in droves, Na bado!" his mate, who was speaking earlier, agreed with him.

Some of the protesters had calmly attempted to reason with the two men, but they were relentless and stood firm with their opinions and alleged threats which showed their disdain for women.

The video went viral online and sparked uproar with many Kenyans aside from expressing their condemnations in response as well as calling on authorities to apprehend them for their insensitive remarks.

Neither the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) nor the relevant authorities had yet to take action against him over the remarks by the time of publishing this article. Earlier, a local football club, Mathare United Women FC, banned Ronaldo for life as one of its fans over the vile remarks.

"After video footage emerged yesterday of one of our fans, Ronaldo, insulting and giving irresponsible remarks that promote violence against women, we have decided as a team to permanently ban him from attending our matches, coming to our premises, or associating with our team in any manner," the club stated on X.

Notably, Nairobi Woman Representative, Esther Passaris was met with similar hostility after the protesters prevented her from addressing the crowd at Jeevanjee Gardens by heckling her to the point she had to be whisked away by her bodyguards.

The group which turned rowdy had accused the MP of being silent amid the rising cases that saw scores of women murdered across the country.

"Where were you? What did you do?" The activists protested against the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MP.

However, she did address a section of journalists on the sidelines as the activists presented their petition and asked her to forward it to Parliament.

Passaris, who defended the rude interruption, had indicated that she understood where the crowd was coming from and that their anger was justified, however noting that she had been pushing for protests actively on the sides.

The protests attended by close to 10,000 women and men were staged in Nairobi and in major towns countrywide in response to the increased systematic killing of women and girls in general across the country owing to their gender.

The most recent murders were those of Starlet Wahu, 26, who was brutally murdered in a short-term rental apartment, and Rita Waeni, a first-year university student whose dismembered body was also found in another short-term rental apartment in Nairobi.
