Trade Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria on Friday, June 16 appointed his former running mate Faith Mwaura to be a member of the Kenya Development Corporation.
According to a Gazette Notice obtained by Viral Tea, Mwaura will serve as a member of the corporation for a period of three years, effective immediately.
The former Kiambu gubernatorial running mate candidate replaces Mboche Waithaka whose appointment has been revoked.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (1) (e) of the State Corporations Act, as read together with section 51 of the Interpretations and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry appoints Faith Mwaura to be a member of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Development Corporation, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 16th June 2023. The appointment of Mboche Waithaka is revoked,” the notice read.

In other appointments, CS Kuria appointed Grace Otieno and Judith Kerich as members of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Accreditation Service, for a period of three (3) years.
Mwaura rose to prominence when Kuria picked her as his running mate ahead of the August 9, 2022, general elections, whereby the CS was among the first to announce that he conceded defeat in the Kiambu gubernatorial race even before the official results were announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
He was vying against Kimani Wamatangi (UDA), James Nyoro (incumbent & Jubilee), William Kabogo (Tujibebe), and independent candidate Patrick Wainaina, popularly known as 'jungle'.
Wamatangi emerged victorious with 348,371 votes ahead of Wainaina who amassed 237,361 votes. Former Kiambu Governor Kabogo managed to get 106,980 votes while the outgoing governor James Nyoro garnered 99,562 votes.
Kuria who had already conceded defeat managed to get 25,512 and the only lady, Mwende Gatabaki managed to get 4,674 votes.
Faith Mwaura Profile
Faith Mwaura holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and Masters of Science in Real Estate from Scotland. The CS had tapped on the expertise of the real estate guru to strengthen the real estate sector which he termed as key to his leadership.
