DCI Arrest 2 Robbers Who Posed As Women Selling Massaging Services On Social Media
The DCI gave a case study of one client’s quest for a soothing experience, which turned into a nightmare.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kasarani arrested two men accused of orchestrating an elaborate online scam by posing as glamorous women offering massage services, only to rob their clients blind.
The suspects, Alex Mugo Wachira and Simon Chomba Mbogo, allegedly advertised fake "professional massage" services on social media, luring unsuspecting victims with seductive profiles and promises of relaxation.
The DCI gave a case study of one client’s quest for a soothing experience, which turned into a nightmare. After arranging a session at a supposed spa along Lumumba Drive in Kasarani, he arrived expecting aromatherapy and soft music.
Instead, he was met by the two suspects, who, minutes into the session, pulled knives on him and revealed the real plot.

"One such victim, perhaps dreaming of scented oils and spa music, reported the ordeal to the Kasarani Police Station. Enticed by what seemed to be two attractive women offering top-tier massage sessions, he made his way to their supposed spa residence along Lumumba Drive, Kasarani," stated the DCI in part.
"However, moments into the "massage," things took a sharp turn. The two whipped out knives, revealing their true identities and zero massage knowledge."
Under duress, the victim was forced to transfer Ksh280,000 to the suspects' phone number, robbed of his valuables before being unceremoniously thrown out.
Detectives launched a forensic investigation, tracing the suspects to a chilling spot near Kamiti Prison, where they were arrested—reportedly enjoying themselves, possibly with the stolen cash. The duo is currently in custody, undergoing processing pending arraignment.
Nairobi’s massage industry has seen rapid expansion in recent years, with a wave of wellness spas and therapeutic centres surfacing across the city, offering everything from Swedish massages to high-end facials.
While many of these businesses are legit and cater to a growing urban crowd looking for relaxation and stress relief, the fast-growing sector has also attracted a fair share of shady players.
Thanks to the anonymity and convenience of online platforms, especially social media and classified ads, scammers have found an easy way in. Many pose as attractive women offering private, in-home massage services, only to rob or extort clients once they arrive.
This trend has caught the attention of law enforcement, with increased crackdowns in areas like Kilimani, Kileleshwa, and Westlands, which have become hotspots for such digital cons.
