Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss, Mohammed Amin, travelled to Italy on his first trip in his capacity on Monday night, April 24.

This was announced by the DCI on Wednesday, April 26 which narrated the details of Amin's trip to Italy where he was hosted by a delegation of its directors of the state's security organs.

The partnership program he secured while in Italy aims to share best practices and strengthen cooperation in Police Training, information sharing, counter-terrorism, anti-drug trafficking and curbing transnational organized crimes.

"Mr Amin who made his maiden visit to Italy as the DCI Chief Monday night was received by his hosts the Director of the Central Directorate Mr Diego Parente, General and Intn'l Affairs Director Dr Emilo Russo, General Director Anti-Narcotics Antonino Maggiore, General Gianfranco Scafuri and General Nicola De Benedictis among others," stated the DCI in part.

The Italian delegation commended the DCI for its persistence in neutralizing organized crimes, noting that Kenya was becoming uninhabitable for criminal rings.

The DCI Chief was accompanied by the Director Anti-Narcotics Margaret Karanja, the Director Anti-Terrorism Police Unit Johnstone Kola and Lawrence Some.

The agreement furthers DCI's cooperation with international investigative agencies in its bid to enhance its crime investigations and crime-fighting capabilities, no matter the degree of the offence.

On Friday, April 21, DCI partnered with the US Embassy’s Office of Anti-Terrorism Assistance under the Diplomatic Security Services, TripleTap Academy, Kibo and BMW Motorrad for a rigorous advanced combat riding course for its Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU)’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) held at Kedong training camp in Naivasha, Nakuru County.

The training was tailored towards enhancing the provision of immediate response capability to emergent and high-risk incidents requiring specialized skills and tactics.

It included obstacle-crossing skills, speedy manoeuvres with an armed pillion passenger, and target shooting while in motion among other skills.

DCI on Wednesday, April 19 joined the Virtual Global Taskforce (VGT) in its efforts to crack down on perpetrators of child sexual abuse online across Kenya.

"DCI being part of the Virtual Global Taskforce (VGT) which is a 15-member international alliance of law enforcement agencies is working alongside members from private industry and non-governmental organisations to tackle the threat of child sexual abuse.

"The task force has noted that the scale of online child sexual abuse is increasing worldwide and it is one of the most urgent and defining issues of the current generation," stated the DCI in part.
