Slain model Edwin Chiloba was choked with a pair of jeans and socks in his nose and mouth, government pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor has confirmed.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, January 11, Oduor noted that the LGBTQ activist was stuffed with the two items of clothing to the point he could not breathe, thus leading to his death.

"We did an autopsy on the body of Edwin Kiptoo Kiprotich and we found out that he died as a result of suffocation caused by his nose and mouth being sealed until he could not breathe, then he died.

"His nose and mouth were covered using a pair of jeans. We also found that a sock was stuffed in his mouth so that he does not breathe," he said.

Oduor further ruled out rumours that his eyes were gouged out, noting that the autopsy did not reveal injuries in his body, despite revealing that the body was decomposed.

He added that they took samples from the late Chiloba for further investigations to find out if he was drugged.

"We didn't find any injuries on his body, and that made us take samples for further investigations to establish whether he was drugged so as to not resist his kidnappers.

"The eyes were intact and what people talked about his eyes being gouged out was because of decomposition, and typically when a body is decomposed, you can think that his eyes were gouged out," he added.

Oduor further noted that at the time of death, the deceased was not getting enough oxygen in his brain which was swollen, as well as injuries on his mouth.

Among the four suspects arrested in connection to the murder included popular TikToker using the online moniker Junior Litali, whose real name is Dennis Litali, who defended himself by arguing that he does not know any of the people implicated in the murder.

The bodybuilding champion is a celebrity in his own right and has amassed a huge following on social media. Litali, who was Mr Uasin Gishu 2017 and is also 2nd runners up for East African bodybuilding 2022, told senior resident magistrate Richard Odenyo on Tuesday, January 10 that his arrest was a cover-up by police.

He had challenged an application made by Eldoret South DCI Chief Inspector Stephen Mumba to detain him for 21 days, terming it too long.

“All these people being held with me as suspects are strangers that I have never met. Detaining me for three weeks will subject my young family to a lot of suffering and anguish,” Litali said.

The court, however, ignored the plea and allowed police to detain the suspect for 21 days.

On Monday, January 9, Marini Naturals CEO Michelle Ntalami revealed that she tried talking Chiloba out of his relationship with the main suspect in the murder, Jackton Odhiambo, but was unsuccessful.
