China Global Television Network (CGTN) Africa and former KTN journalist Nick Mudimba is dead. Viral Tea has learnt that Mudimba has passed away after collapsing at his home in Syokimau, Machakos County, on Sunday evening, March 23.

Mudimba was at home with his family when the incident occurred. Reports indicate that he had been unwell and was undergoing treatment.

A family source revealed that on Saturday, March 22, he was diagnosed with health complications, including high uric acid levels.

After seeking additional medical attention on Sunday, he returned home feeling stronger and later watched the Harambee Stars match against Gabon, which ended 2-1 in favour of the visitors. However, after taking his prescribed medication, he suddenly collapsed and began convulsing.

Despite efforts to save him, Mudimba sadly passed away at home. His body was later moved to a mortuary in Syokimau as the family awaits an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

A highly respected journalist, Mudimba had an accomplished career in the media industry, having worked at KTN and Switch TV before joining CGTN Africa as a senior reporter.

Colleagues have since taken to social media to remember him as a dedicated professional whose work left a significant impact.

"Gutted to learn about the death of my friend and counterpart Nick Mudimba. One of the kindest souls I ever met, and always ready for a good laugh. Rest in peace, bro," wrote journalist Ferdinand Omondi on X.

"I just checked my phone log—Nick called me on February 21st at 18:53. I still can't believe the news. We shared so many laughs, and it's hard to accept that he's gone. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. You'll be missed more than words can say. RIP NICK MUDIMBA," gospel artist Daddy Owen mourned.

Citizen TV's Mashirima Kapombe also wrote "Death, Why are you so cruel? Eternal rest grant unto Nick Mudimba oh Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen."

CGTN Africa, the regional branch of China Global Television Network, is headquartered in Nairobi and manages news coverage across the continent through its offices in Lagos, Cairo, and Johannesburg.

Mudimba's death is a crude blow to the Kenyan media space which two days ago was hit by another heartbreaking loss; journalist Fredrick Parsayo, who worked as a reporter in the editorial department of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).

KBC management confirmed his passing, stating that he died on Friday, March 21, at his home in Kinoo, Kikuyu Constituency. While the exact circumstances of his death remain unclear, the government-owned media house noted that investigations are underway to determine the cause.

Editor's note: Viral Tea expresses our deepest sympathies to the families of Mudimba and Parsayo for the loss of their loved ones and wishes that God gives them comfort during this difficult time.
