Former Treasury PS Among 6 Shortlisted To Replace CBK Governor Patrick Njoroge
Thugge was among six candidates shortlisted to replace Njoroge, who is nearing the end of his term since his reappointment in 2019.

Former Treasury Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge was on Tuesday, May 2 shortlisted by the Public Service Commission (PSC) to replace Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Governor Patrick Njoroge.
Thugge was among six candidates shortlisted to replace Njoroge, who is nearing the end of his term since his reappointment in 2019.
Dorcas Muthoni Mutonyi, Haron Sirima, Edward Sambili, Nancy Onyango, and Adan Abdulla Mohamed were among the other candidates shortlisted.

"Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed at the Public Service Commission, Commission House, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi on the date and time indicated. Candidates should be at the venue at least 15 minutes before the starting time," read part of the statement.
Each of the candidates was expected to appear before the meeting committee on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, across different time periods.
All candidates were also required to produce originals of several documents including the National Identity Card, Academic and Professional certificates and transcripts, and other supporting documents as well as testimonials.
Each candidate will be required to produce current and valid clearances from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), a registered Credit Reference Bureau, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and a printed online self-declaration application acknowledgement receipt or a self-declaration form duly stamped for the job application by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Each applicant should also have a letter of recognition of qualification from the Commission for University Education (CUE) for candidates who possess degrees from foreign universities and a recommendation from relevant professional bodies and associations where applicable.
PSC also called upon members of the public to avail any credible information on the mentioned candidates through a sworn affidavit to the Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Commission.
The submissions should be submitted either physically at the PSC offices fourth flour Commission House or online through, hodrands@publicservice.go.ke before May 8, 2023.
Thugge had spent almost 10 years at the National Treasury. Prior to his appointment as Principal Secretary, he worked as a senior economic adviser in the Ministry of Finance from the year 2010.
He was the head of the Fiscal and Monetary Affairs Department, Treasury between 2004 to 2005, and the Economic Secretary and Head of the Economic Affairs Department, Treasury between 2005 and 2008.
Thugge who was hounded out of office over corruption before was in October 2022 picked to head the Fiscal Affairs and Budget Policy in the President William Ruto administration.
Thugge, who was named to the new post by the Head of State, was facing corruption charges alongside former Treasury CS Rotich who is still fighting to clear his name in court. Thugge's charges were however dropped.
