The Head of Public Service and State House Chief of Staff, Felix Koskei, has called upon Kenyans to start wearing jerseys for their favourite Kenyan or African teams from Wednesday, December 6.

In a statement on Tuesday, December 5, Koskei called upon Kenyans to embrace a dress-down fashion culture that will run to Jamhuri Day, Tuesday, December 12.

He noted that the recommendation for Kenyans to wear jerseys was in honour of the Africa YouthConnekt Summit the government is hosting between December 8-11, 2023.

Koskei added that Kenyans for seven consecutive days including at workplaces are free to wear jerseys of their choice, including Harambee Stars or Kenya's national rugby teams.

"Starting tomorrow until Jamhuri Day, let's embrace dress-down stylish and presentable casual wear, amplifying the Africa YouthConnekt Summit vibes that we're proudly hosting from December 8-11," stated Koskei.

"Show your spirit by donning a jersey from your favourite Kenyan or African team, whether it's Athletics, Harambee Stars, Shujaa, or Malkia. Let's rock those jerseys with pride!"

However, for Kenyans to acquire such jerseys locally, it costs one more than what they would pay for in the case of acquiring jerseys for teams in other countries, for instance for European football teams.

An ardent football fan who spoke to Viral Tea revealed that the price of a jersey for the Kenyan football team for instance can range between Ksh2,000 and Ksh2,500.

In comparison, the cost of a football jersey for a European team, most popularly the English Premier League can start from Ksh1,200 for fan editions and Ksh1,500 for player editions, depending on the jersey store.
