World-famous English football commentator Peter Drury will finally get to meet popular Kenyan comedian Meshack Kiprop Biwott commonly known as Arap Uria, hours after the latter let him know that he is in Qatar where the 2022 FIFA World Cup is ongoing.

Famous for lip-synching Drury's greatest vocal moments in the great game of football, Uria posted a photo of himself on Twitter holding a placard appealing to his followers to help him meet Drury in person.

Drury is also in Qatar where he has been commentating on a select number of games in the group stage and is expected to be a common feature with the knockout stages set to start on Saturday, December 3.

The placard read "Hello, Peter Drury, it's Arap Uria. I am in Qatar and I would like to meet you."

The YouTuber, who boasts over 380,000 subscribers, also tagged his co-commentator, Jim Beglin, who replied by wishing him well.

"I have passed on your tweet to Peter. I hope it all works out for you. Good luck," Jim tweeted, before revealing that Drury would reach out to Uria, saying  "Peter will contact you tomorrow, Arap."

By the time of publishing, Peter Drury was the top trend on Twitter, with fans praising Arap for living up to his dream.

Back in April, Uria was treated to a famous feast after being praised live on Premier League TV by Drury. He was meant to meet him at that time but the 54-year-old United Kingdom-born journalist was in Doha to witness the World Cup draw.

"Arap, it's Peter here, I really wish I could be with you today. It's so frustrating that I am here in Doha to witness the World Cup draw. Listen, I love what you do. I hope you are laughing with me and not at me. I must say I am certainly laughing with you. It's terrifyingly funny, it's superb.

“Football shouldn't be taken too seriously. With all the passion you show for it, I do love your work and I hope one day we might get to meet each other face to face and you can teach me how to commentate," said Drury.

Uria in August landed a lucrative deal with the world football governing body FIFA and flew to Ghana to shoot a FIFA World Cup project.

Besides mimicking Drury’s commentary, Uria who is a qualified tutor also does Kalenjin and political comedy.

Drury is arguably the world's best football commentator, with his poetic pieces loved by many football fans across the country through Premier League TV.

However, ahead of the 2022/23 Premier League season, he was poached by the United States-based NBC Sport, much to the disappointment of millions of football fans in East Africa who now have to rely on online streams and short highlights on social media platforms to savour his magical moments.
