East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member of Parliament (MP) Kanini Kega was on Thursday, March 9 captured wearing a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) cap moments after youth aligned with Jubilee Party secretary general, Jeremiah Kioni was accused of kicking him out of a meeting at the National Museum Center.

Kega had paid a visit to UDA, KANU, DP, KUP and Jubilee political parties booths' at the People’s Dialogue Forum and whilst at the Jubilee and UDA booths, he was captured wearing the caps of the respective party colours.

The drama was however saved for the Jubilee faction when Kega, aligned with President William Ruto, was driven away from the podium where political parties were discussing democracy.

The youth could be heard in videos shared online confronting Kega and forcing him to leave and arguing that he should be serving the EALA offices in Tanzania.

In a press conference that followed his ejection, Kega accused Kioni of plotting against him by unceremoniously chasing him out of the meeting through indirect means.

"We have never seen something like this. This is not the Jubilee we know.

"Jubilee is known as a peaceful party. What we have seen here today is not Jubilee. We don't fight," Kega lamented.

He further noted that his ejection from the event was planned behind the scenes ahead of time by those he had previously blamed for not entertaining democratic values.

Kega stated that he was invited to the meeting in his capacity as the Acting Secretary General.

"I was invited to the meeting on accounts that I'm the Acting Secretary General of the Jubilee Party and the Director of Elections within the party," Kega explained.

The EALA MP further accused Kioni of wrecking the Jubilee party from within, amidst a number of internal and external challenges affecting the former ruling party.

While maintaining his stance as the Acting SG, Kega warned Kioni that he risks facing serious disciplinary action.

"Jubilee Party was having 170 Members of Parliament, but in the last election, we reduced our membership in the National Assembly to 28.

"The behaviour that we have seen today of the former Secretary General to bring along goons to come and disrupt an internationally covered function is totally unacceptable and demeaning to our party," Kega noted.

Kega added that the Jubilee Party lost over 1,000 seats due to poor leadership and a lack of care for ordinary members.

Various political parties staged a table at the National Museum where Kenyans can visit and even register themselves as members.
