The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) on Monday, February 13 ratified the decision by the Jubilee Party National Executive Council (NEC) to oust Jeremiah Kioni and David Murathe.

In a letter to Jubilee deputy Secretary General Joshua Kuttuny, Registrar of political parties Anne Nderitu acknowledged receiving the resolutions reached at during the Jubilee NEC meeting held on Friday, February 10.

Nderitu further approved the contents of the NEC meeting resolutions which saw Kioni and Murathe suspended as Secretary-General and National Vice-Chairperson respectively.

"This Office acknowledges receipt of your letter dated 10th February 2023 and received on February 13, 2023, at the Jubilee Party (JP) National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on February 10, 2023," the letter reads in part.

"You submitted the following documents: a notice of NEC meeting dated 2nd February 2023; minutes of the NEC meeting; resolutions of the NEC meeting; and a list of NEC members present at the meeting."

ORPP noted that it was satisfied that the meeting in which the ouster was arrived at was conducted as per the law.

"The Office has taken note of the contents of your submissions and the resolutions. It is also noted that the meeting was properly convened as per the party constitution," added the letter.

Nderitu further instructed the Jubilee deputy SG to inform the registrar's office of any internal disputes that may arise over the matter.

Jubilee party was also required to adhere to the provisions of the party constitution during the process as well as observe the provisions of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition agreement and the role of respective party organs before initiating the process to exit the coalition.

Kioni was replaced by East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member of Parliament Kanini Kega while Murathe was replaced with Eldas Constituency Member of Parliament Adan Keynan.

This deals a big blow to Kioni who opposed the ouster as well as reports that Jubilee would dump the Azimio la Umoja coalition.

"Those at State House and elsewhere began a very dangerous plan affecting Kenyans. That is the plan to ensure opposition parties have been bought and broken up to make sure no leaders remain to represent Kenyan citizens.

"Let me tell you that in Nakuru I hear that some people met in Nakuru led by those who went to State House recently and claimed that Jubilee is leaving Azimio. That is a lie. Jubilee will be in Azimio to the end. Uhuru will be in Azimio to the end," he stated on Friday, February 10 at Mavoko Machakos County.

He further countered his ouster by initiating disciplinary action against Kega, nominated Member of Parliament Sabina Chege, Senator Fatuma Dullo and Keynan.
