Police on Monday, April 17 launched investigations into an incident involving Lands Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Kimani Ngujiri who allegedly shot and injured a man during a land dispute in Bahati, Nakuru County.
Reports indicated that the incident occurred after Ngunjiri led a group of men to storm a disputed farm and destroy a fence belonging to a woman.
The woman raised an alarm, alerting residents who encountered chaotic scenes in which Ngunjiri allegedly shot and injured one person.

The Lands CAS however told police that he shot in self-defence after he was allegedly attacked by over one hundred people on the disputed land.
He further declined to comment on the issue, saying: "the matter is under police investigations. They will establish what transpired," adding that he was at his farm in Bahati.
Videos shared on social media depicted the extent of the incident, with sounds of a woman crying and cursing being heard in the background.
Nakuru County Criminal Investigations Officer Hassan Adan confirmed the incident, with another police boss revealing that the former Bahati lawmaker was involved in an altercation with a section of residents of the Ampiva area, over a land tussle and the one person was shot and injured in the fracas.
“We have launched investigations into the shooting incident. Already Ngunjiri has been disarmed as we launch investigations to ascertain if it was his gun used in the shooting,” the officer told the Nation.
According to eyewitnesses, the victim, Lucas Onyango was caught up in the confrontation between the CAS and the irate residents over a controversial piece of land and the former MP fired in the air to scare away the irate residents.
Onyango, who was shot in the shoulders, was rushed to the Bahati sub-county hospital where he is receiving treatment.
Ngunjiri was alleged to have stormed the land with the intention to reclaim it from Susan Murugi. Both Murugi, a 68-year-old and Ngunjiri had laid claim to the half-acre parcel of land.
Following the incident senior police bosses led by the county police commander and the County Criminal Investigations boss visited the scene.
Ngunjiri in January 2020 was made to surrender his firearm to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices in Nakuru after he was reportedly involved in a crime.
