The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has urged Kenyans in most parts of the country to brace themselves for heavy rainfall.

In its weather forecast released on Monday, November 14 and running for five days between Tuesday, November 15 and Saturday, November 19, the weatherman cautioned of poor spatial distribution in the Coast, the South-eastern lowlands, North-eastern and North-western Kenya.

Additionally, some parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Central and South Rift Valley, the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern Lowlands, the Coast and North-eastern Kenya will experience isolated storms.

The Lake Victoria Basin, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley and the Central and South Rift Valley (Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Transnzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot Counties) will have Rains over few places in the morning, showers and thunderstorms over several places in the afternoon and showers over few places at night, for the five day forecast period.

North-western counties (Turkana and Samburu) will experience rainfall in the mornings of Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Tuesday afternoon and the nights of Friday and Saturday.

KMD's forecast went on to state that the counties in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley [including Nairobi County] (Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi Counties) will experience rainfall for the five days.

North-eastern counties (Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo) will also experience rainfall for the five days apart from Friday morning which will have sunny intervals and the nights of Wednesday and Thursday which will be partly cloudy.

The Southeastern lowlands (Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta Counties) will have rainfall on all five days apart from Friday morning which will experience Sunny intervals.

Coast counties (Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale) will also experience high rainfall for almost all five days apart from Tuesday and Thursday nights which will be partly cloudy.
