Deputy president-elect, Rigathi Gachagua on Wednesday, August 17 gave more details regarding the possible return of exiled lawyer, Miguna Miguna, to Kenya once he is sworn in alongside President-elect, William Ruto.

Speaking to Kass FM, Gachagua noted that Miguna was wrongfully punished for his defiance of the current administration.

He noted that the lawyer should start preparing to return to the country as soon as the duo are sworn in, pending the outcome of possible petitions at the Supreme Court to invalidate Ruto's victory in the August 9 general elections.

"Miguna should start packing his bags because he did not do any wrong. It's because he differed with a few leaders and hence was shown the door.

"Wherever he is, I'd tell him to be patient and as soon as the president-elect is sworn in, he should book a flight," Gachagua stated.

Miguna had offered hope to his followers about his return to the country from exile but stated that three conditions must be met before he even books a return flight to Kenya.

First, William Ruto must be sworn in as Kenya's fifth president before he reenters the Kenyan territory. Second and third, the red alerts against him must be lifted and his Kenyan passport renewed- indicating that he has since packed his bags in readiness for the journey which takes approximately 15 hours.

"Five Executive Orders President William Ruto should issue: lift the red alerts against Miguna Miguna, appoint the six judges, order a judicial Inquiry into state capture, return port operations to Mombasa and block Matiang'i, Kibicho, Mucheru, Chiloba and Kinoti from fleeing," Miguna issued further instructions on Wednesday.

On the current administration, Gachagua claimed that President Uhuru Kenyatta was being misused by his close allies to reinforce Azimio la Umoja's road to the presidency in the August 9 polls.

"When chiefs saw that if you say the truth, action will be taken against you, they began doctoring reports. Uhuru Kenyatta was receiving wrong reports from chiefs and assistant chiefs allies who feared that they would be fired by the current regime.

"The president has been lied to in the past two years. This is because his allies couldn't tell him the truth," he stated.

Gachagua also noted that Azimio is actively looking into how their leader, Raila Odinga, was roasted in the Mt Kenya region in terms of votes. He also referred to the allegations by the four commissioners who rejected the results.

The former Mathira MP noted that proponents of the Azimio team had reached out to him in a bid to return the handshake agreement between the two factions, which he rejected.

On Uhuru's silence following Ruto's victory in the elections, Gachagua asked him to be at the very least a gentleman and at least recognize the fact that his deputy has been elected president, the first time such has happened in Kenya's history.

Referring to former US president Donald Trump skipping the swearing-in of US president Joe Biden, he said that the outgoing Head of State's presence at the swearing-in is an option.

"What is only required during the swearing-in ceremony is the presence of the Chief Justice, it is not even that sword, that is just ceremonial," Gachagua said.
