Moses Kuria Moved In Ruto Cabinet Reshuffle

The headline of the changes sees Cabinet Secretaries Moses Kuria, Alfred Mutua and Alice Wahome moved from the Trade, Foreign Affairs and Water ministries.

President William Ruto has announced his first Cabinet reshuffle since assuming office on September 13, 2022.

The headline of the changes sees Cabinet Secretaries Moses Kuria, Alfred Mutua and Alice Wahome moved from the Trade, Foreign Affairs and Water ministries.

The changes are as follows:

Kuria was transferred to the Ministry of Public Service previously held by Aisha Jumwa.

Alfred Mutua was moved to the Ministry of Tourism & Wildlife previously held by Peninah Malonza who was posted to the Ministry of East African Community (EAC). 

Alice Wahome was moved to the Ministry of Lands Public Works & Urban Housing from the Water docket. Zachariah Njeru, the former Lands CS was transferred to the Ministry of Water & Sanitation previously held by Wahome.

"HIS EXCELLENCY THE PRESIDENT has, in the exercise of the presidential prerogative vested in the Head of State and Government pursuant to Article 132 of the Constitution, reorganized the Executive. 

"By dint of the Presidential action, changes have been effected to portfolio mandates of Ministries and State Departments. THE HEAD OF STATE AND GOVERNMENT'S Executive Action re- aligns Ministries, State Departments, and Kenya's Foreign Service to optimize performance and enhance service delivery as set out in the Administration's Manifesto under the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda," the circular signed by Felix Koskei, the Chief of Staff and seen by Viral Tea read.

In other changes, Musalia Mudavadi retained his role as the Prime Cabinet Secretary but was handed the extra responsibility of the CS for the Ministry of Foreign & Diaspora Affairs previously held by Alfred Mutua. 

Replacing Moses Kuria in Trade is Rebecca Miano who was moved from the East African Community (EAC).

The Ministry of Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage was created and will be spearheaded by Aisha Jumwa.

The Ministry of Public Service, Gender and Affirmative Action has been reconstituted and renamed the Ministry of Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management.

Ruto also reconstituted the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage and renamed it the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs, the Arts and Sports was renamed the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

The State Department for Performance and Delivery Management was transferred to the Ministry of Public Service, Performance Management. and Delivery and the State Department for Culture and Heritage was renamed as the State Department for Culture, the Arts and Heritage and vested in the Ministry of Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage.

The State Department for Gender and Affirmative Action was transferred to the Ministry of Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage.
