Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party has won the Nairobi Senatorial Seat, another huge win secured in the capital.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)'s Edwin Sifuna, bagged 716,876 votes against United Democratic Alliance (UDA)'s Bishop Margaret Wanjiru who amassed 594,021 votes.

"Edwin Watenya Sifuna is duly elected as Senator of Nairobi City County," Nairobi County Returning Officer (CRO) Albert Gogo announced.

Passaris Retains Nairobi Women Rep Seat

For the Woman Representative seat, incumbent Esther Passaris retained her seat after upsetting UDA candidate Millicent Omanga.

Passaris secured a total of 698,929 against 586,246 Omanga's votes.

"As I being the county returning officer, I hereby declare that Esther Muthoni Passaris is duly elected as county Woman Representative in the National Assembly," the CRO stated.

Gogo however noted that there were missing results from polling stations whose total voters amounted to 4,731.

This eventually mattered little in the final tally owing to the huge difference between the leading and second-placed candidates.

The victories mean the Azimio coalition controls a majority of leadership in Nairobi County, except for the highest seat which saw outgoing senator, Johnson Sakaja, beat Polycarp Igathe of the Azimio coalition.

The coalition, led by presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, claimed 12 out of the 17 available parliamentary seats in each constituency.

Here are Azimio MPs elected in Nairobi:

  1. Babu Owino – ODM (Embakasi East)
  2. Jalang'o – ODM (Lang'ata)
  3. Tim Wanyonyi – ODM (Westlands)
  4. Mark Mwenje – Jubilee (Embakasi West)

  10. Antony Oluoch – ODM (Mathare)
  11. Julius Mawathe - Wiper (Embakasi South)
  12. Mwalimu Peter Orero – ODM (Kibra).

UDA captured only four seats in constituencies that- bar Dagoretti South- fall in the densely populated areas of the city.

They include:

  1. Benjamin Gathiru - UDA (Embakasi Central)
  2. Mwafrika Augustine Kamande - UDA (Roysambu)
