Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Tuesday, July 4 dismantled a motorcycle theft ring that was operating between Kenya and the neighbouring country, Tanzania.

The DCI revealed in a statement that the syndicate consisting of three suspects has been stealing motorcycles in the country and transporting them to the neighbouring country where the stolen motorbikes are believed to have a ready market.

This is after investigations revealed that there existed a well-organized criminal gang that masterminded the disappearance of motorcycles in various towns in the country, before ferrying them to Loitoktok town from where they are sneaked across the border.

Agnes Wambui, who was revealed to be responsible for spiking the drinks of boda boda riders, was nabbed by detectives and had led them to the arrest of the other two. In the ring, she was used as bait to lure the unsuspecting riders to their trap.

"Wambui, believed to be the bait used to attract the boda boda riders was the first to be arrested by detectives. Posing as a pillion passenger, Wambui stupefies her victims along the way before disappearing with the motorbikes, once the nduthimen lose consciousness.

"The suspect who was arrested after comprehensive investigations led detectives to her other accomplices including one Daniel Mwaniki and William Nkadanyo alias Saningo. Nkadanyo was arrested in Loitoktok town where he is believed to have a ready market for the stolen motorcycles," stated DCI.

Stolen mobile phones were also recovered from the suspects including one that had been stolen from a motorbike rider, who was stupefied before he also lost his bike in Juja, Kiambu County.

Over 30 tablets believed to be stupefying drugs were also recovered from the suspects, who were discovered to have pending criminal cases in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County and Diani, Kwale County.

The term pishori babe went viral in the wake of rogue women colluding with a wanted gangster Samuel Mugo Muvota who was shot and killed in cold blood along Mirema Drive in Nairobi in May 2022.

The DCI then unmasked some of the alleged female faces behind the dangerous ‘Pishori’ administrators believed to have been spiking drinks of moneyed Nairobi men.

According to the DCI, the "babes", who are experts in stupefying revellers at popular drinking spots mainly, used to target middle-aged to older men whom they suspect to have fat bank accounts.

The sleuths additionally uncovered how one of them can easily pick out a moneyed man with a healthy bank balance from a crowd of revellers, going by the brands of the drinks one has ordered to how one is dressed.
