Tiger Brands Limited deals with Fast-moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) handling manufacturing, marketing and distributing everyday branded food and beverages.

It also exports grains, consumer brands, home and personal care products.

Tiger Brands is the largest food company in South Africa with direct and indirect interests in international food businesses in Chile, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Nigeria, Kenya, and Cameroon.

Igathe will thus bring to the company strong commercial capability, sales and marketing, sales strategies and business leadership experiences.

The role adds to his glittering Curriculum Vitae (CV) which consists of continental roles at Coca-Cola, Kenya Breweries, Haco Industries Limited and Equity Bank.

Before joining the corporate world, Igathe served as Nairobi's Deputy Governor before he resigned.

He ran for the governor's seat under the Azimio la Umoja coalition on a Jubilee ticket but lost to United Democratic Alliance (UDA)'s Johnson Sakaja, who got 699,392 votes against Igathe's 576,516 votes.

The determinant of the brutally-contested Nairobi gubernatorial race was the two candidates' performances during the gubernatorial debate on Monday, July 11.
