Quiver Lounge Responds To Criticism After Pastor Blesses New Joint

Quiver Lounge entertainment joint has broken its silence after a viral video showed a priest blessing its new premises in Murang’a County.

Its general manager Joseph Ng'ang'a clarified that the 'man of God' was not just hired to bless their new facility in Kenol on Friday, November 11 alone.

He stated that the men in robes had purposefully visited the mall where the premises is located to bless it as a whole.

"Quiver Lounge happens to be one of the many businesses on which the new mall sits. The businesses there range from supermarkets to petrol stations, as you'd expect in any mall.

"Therefore, the mall owners, who also happen to be the proprietors of Nokras Hotels and Magunas supermarkets, simply sought the services of the Church in dedicating the mall to God. That's how Quiver Lounge was captured in viral videos while the priest did his thing. This was absolutely not a Quiver Lounge initiative, but that of the mall owners under which the club falls, " he revealed on Saturday, November 12.

However, he defended his stance of calling upon members of the clergy to bless the nightclubs, terming them as just like any other business.

The video had attracted criticism into the afternoon hours, given that the priest's line of duty is against what clubs are known for; alcohol, skimpy dressing among other forms of debauchery.

"We have always sought pastors to pray for our nightclubs every time we open a new branch. This is a business like any other. There are a lot of risks in nightclubs - people can be stabbed to death with bottles, there are knives involved, fires in the kitchens, and stampedes too.

"We always ask God to protect us from hazards and we also channel a lot of our profits to the Church. I don't see any controversy in asking men of God to bless a new nightclub," Mbugua said.

He noted that the mall was being dedicated to God like any other business, which was also new to the market.

"As you've already been told, the mall in which Quiver Lounge sits, was being dedicated to God as any business person would as he embarks on a new business challenge. While Quiver Lounge is a nightspot, it also enjoyed the blessings from the priests since it's also part of the many businesses the Murang'a mall hosts," he added.

The priest on Friday, November 11 was brought to offer his blessings to the new facility that was opened in Kenol Town, bringing the number of Quiver Lounges in the country to two, from its Nairobi one along Thika Road.

The 'man of God' could be seen sprinkling holy water outside the premises while his clergyman held the basin full of water for him, as he passed by to sanctify the joint, followed by other invited guests, the joint's waiters and some police officers.

His actions however drew a bit of controversy as Kenyans on social media were left wondering if it was the right thing to do given that his profession is known to be against the nightlife.

According to photos shared by the entertainment premises on social media, the club has adopted the same setting as its Nairobi branch, though the space is smaller compared to its pioneer facility.

Just like its big brother, the new joint comes with a nyama choma base, a fast food canteen and an appealing design with two different counters well stocked with various high-end wines and spirits.

The club is located at the newly opened Kilele mall consisting of Magunas Supermarket, a petro station and Muthokinju paints and Tiles store.

So far, it has attracted a huge number of revellers even drawn from Nairobi, given that it is an hour's drive from the Nairobi CBD.
