The Office of The Registrar Of Political Parties (ORPP) on Friday, June 2, dismissed the resolutions made during the Jubilee Party's National Delegates Conference (NDC) led by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In a letter to the Jubilee party SG Jeremiah Kioni, Registrar of Political Parties Anne Nderitu indicated that Uhuru's party had failed to meet the requirements that would lead to her consideration of the resolutions passed on Monday, May 22.

Nderitu thus termed Jubilee Party's resolutions null and void until all the necessary documents are submitted.

"Reference is made to the above subject matter and your letter dated May 23, 2023, submitting various documents, including, a notice convening the Special NDC meeting May 22, 2023.

"You also sent a notice of change of venue and resolutions of the Special NDC meeting of May 22, 2023. However, following a review of the submitted documents, this Office is unable to address the substance of the resolutions for non-submission of requisite documents," Nderitu stated.

Nderitu noted that the documents submitted by Kioni's faction were lacking a duly signed list of attendance with their identification Numbers (IDs) to ascertain the composition of the NDC and quorum in line with articles 8.1(1) and 23 of the Jubilee Party (JP) constitution.

"You also failed to submit a comprehensive Minutes of the NDC meeting to, inter alia, determine the process and mode of election given that only an extract of Minutes was submitted. Owing to the above, the documents submitted are incomplete," Nderitu added.

Nderitu however offered Jubilee a window of opportunity to accept its party updates and that Uhuru's wing should move swiftly to deal with the blunders in their documentation.

She explained that her office was operating under strict adherence to Law and Constitution and that she would immediately reject anything that did not meet the legal threshold.

The letter deals a blow to Uhuru and his allies who were keen on imposing major changes in the party. During the former ruling party's National Delegates Conference (NDC), the Uhuru faction expelled EALA MP Kanini Kega, Nominated MP Sabina Chege, Nelson Dzuya, Jimi Angwenyi, Naomi Shaban, Joshua Kutuny, Mutava Musyimi, and Rachel Nyamai.

The faction had proposed new members to the NEC and they included Beatrice Gambo (deputy Party leader strategy), Maoka Maore (deputy party leader operations), Joseph Manje (deputy party leader programs) Kados Muiruri (deputy party leader outreach), and Jamleck Kamau (national director of elections).

Others included; Saitoti Torome (party chairman), Yasir Noor (deputy secretary general), Pauline Njoroge (deputy organizing secretary, Maison Leshoomo (national women’s league chairperson), Agnes Thumbi (national youth league leader) and Nderitu Mureithi (business council leader).

Antony Manyara was picked as the youth secretariat coordinator while Amina Siyad was chosen to be the parliamentary secretary.

However, the Jubilee Party wing controlled by Chege on Thursday, June 1 held a disciplinary hearing and termed the Uhuru NDC resolutions null and void.
