Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu will now face the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party's disciplinary committee on January 20, 2023.

In a letter signed by the committee's chairperson Charles Njenga dated Friday, December 23, UDA acknowledged receipt of a letter from Nyamu on Tuesday, December 20 requesting for the hearing of the disciplinary case against her to be adjourned.

Despite the reasons given not satisfying the committee, it allowed Nyamu more time to prepare her response for the hearings of the summons issued against her following the viral altercation with Mugithi singer Samidoh Muchoki in Dubai.

"The above matter refers. We have received your letter dated 20th December 2022 requesting for an adjournment of the hearing of the Disciplinary cause against you. Whereas the reasons given are not satisfactory, we shall nevertheless allow you the time requested to prepare your response adequately for the hearing of the summons issued against you.

"Accordingly, this matter shall be heard on the 20th January 2023 when the committee shall next sit to dispose of this and other matters that are pending before it," read the letter in part.

Nyamu was ordered to appear before the committee, terming her conduct during the clash as injurious to the party and one that brought shame upon it.

“In the said incident which is well captured on video that has been widely circulated in both mainstream and social media, your conduct and mannerism as exhibited in that incident has brought shame, disrepute and lowered the dignity of the party which nominated you to the office of Senator,” said Njenga.

“Article 73 of the Constitution of Kenya as read together with the code of conduct of the party and your oath of office, delineate with clarity the expected conduct of a member of the party who has been afforded the opportunity to serve in public office, to represent the party at the Senate and the general public.”

Nyamu had called off her relationship with Samidoh on Saturday, December 17 after she was embroiled in a standoff with his wife, Edday Nderitu at a club in Dubai.

Edday, who was close to Samidoh, was alarmed, a matter that ignited verbal confrontations between Nyamu and Samidoh as captured in the video that went viral on social media.

Samidoh's wife tried evacuating Nyamu from the scene before security officers eventually whisk her away from the venue. However, the drama seemed to have been forgotten in another video that captured Nyamu dancing and performing on stage with Samidoh and Akorino singer Karangu Wa Muraya.

Samidoh was performing with other Mugiithi artists among them Joyce Wa Mama and DJ Dbul. He flew into Dubai with Edday for enjoyment with family and friends and it was by coincidence that Nyamu was also in Dubai.

After defending her actions by stating that she was under the influence of alcohol and promising to quit drinking in 2023, she penned a statement shared on her Instagram stories, promising to never again repeat her actions since she is a member of a top government arm.

National Youth Congress representative Jephnel Nyakwama Orina wrote to UDA Party Leader President William Ruto on Sunday, December 18 to compel him to kick her out following the drama she caused during the trip.
