Robbers Stab Man & Rape His Girlfriend After Boda Boda Rider Leaves Them Behind
In a statement, the DCI disclosed that the attack took place around 5 a.m. in the Gakoromone area.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Imenti North, Meru County, are pursuing three violent robbers who attacked a couple early Sunday morning, robbing them before stabbing the man and gang-raping his girlfriend.
The gang is said to have set their sights on a motorbike transporting two passengers—a man and his girlfriend—on their way home. In a statement, the DCI disclosed that the attack took place around 5 a.m. in the Gakoromone area.
As per the DCI, the three armed assailants, who were also riding a motorbike, ambushed the boda boda operator and his passengers.

"Imenti North detectives, Meru County are pursuing a gang of three violent robbers who Sunday morning accosted a man and his girlfriend, robbing off their valuables before stabbing the man and raping his woman in turns," the statement by DCI read in part.
"In the 5 am incident reported by the victims, they were heading to their house in Mwitetia from Meru town on a bodaboda, only to be intercepted by the machete-wielding gang at Gakoromone area. The robbers also rode on a motorcycle."
The bodaboda operator however managed to escape after jumping off the bike in motion, leaving his customers skidding to a fall.
Already subdued, the gang frisked them of their belongings (phones and cash), before dragging the lady away where they forced themselves on her in a harrowing experience.
The man's attempt to protect his girlfriend was met with a dagger to the inner thigh, rendering him helpless as the gang proceeded with the heinous act.
It took the intervention of Good Samaritans who found the victims and took them to Meru Teaching & Referral Hospital, where they were treated and later discharged.
"DCI detectives are piecing up leads to the heartless perpetrators, and it is just a matter of time before they are brought to book," added the DCI, which is also calling on anyone with information regarding the suspects’ whereabouts to step forward.
This incident highlights a growing concern within the boda boda industry, which has increasingly been exploited by criminals using motorcycles as swift getaway vehicles.
According to a report by the National Crime Research Centre, robbery with violence constitutes 52.9% of the most common crimes committed by individuals on boda bodas.
