Kenyans wishing to attend the upcoming Nairobi Festival at the newly-renovated Uhuru Park from Monday, December 12 to Saturday, December 17 will part with an entrance fee of Ksh100.

Unveiling the prices, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja in a promo video for the event added that children will be charged a Ksh50 entrance fee for the highly-anticipated event.

Sakaja in the same capacity shared the various activities that will be on show for Nairobians witnessing the showpiece happening in the city for the very first time.

This will include art ranging from graffiti to photography, artistic work from celebrated artists and a show of might from many of the Nairobi County's most popular customised matatus, popularly called nganyas.

"Nairobi, as we promised, the very first festival is here. A whole week to celebrate our ICT and innovation; our arts where we will feature upcoming and established artists, creative graffiti and photography.

"Our culture (and sports) is made up of food, film and of course our mathrees (matatus). Our bustling trade offers a wholesome shopping experience from a variety of Nairobi businesses," he described.

Sakaja invited Kenyans to turn up in their numbers and experience the full capabilities of Nairobi as well as support the small businesses expected to exhibit their wares during the festival.

"I invite you to come, celebrate and experience the core of whom we truly are as Nairobi; a city of immense talent, and creativity and of course where we are all about the hustle. All this will happen here at the newly-renovated Uhuru Park between December 12-17," he added.

Uhuru Park will be reopened to the public for the first time in more than a year with a host of new additions aimed to bring a feel of the state-of-the-art facilities installed in the recreational park which has been present since time immemorial.

Organisers of the Nairobi festival event also welcomed submissions from musicians and other entertainers wishing to perform at the event.

"Musicians, spoken word artists, poets and performing artists can call for enquiries through 0777200290," they stated.
