Former President Uhuru Kenyatta was on Thursday, October 26 treated to a surprise phone call from Kameme FM on his birthday, making it another instance he has broken his silence after months.

The station's morning show host, Muthoni wa Kihumba, called the former Head of State during a live show to wish him a Happy Birthday as he turned 62 years old.

Uhuru, who spoke during the interview, showed his appreciation for the warm birthday wishes he had received from Kenyans from all walks of life. He also used the interview to thank Kenyans for keeping the peace in the country, wishing them prosperity.

The jovial 4th President of the Republic of Kenya remarked that his birthday came on the same year Kenya was celebrating 60 years of independence.

However, Uhuru playfully turned down an opportunity to talk more about his age milestone, only restating the famous phrase that life begins at 40.

"Stop asking about my age, I am glad about the years that God has given me.

"Yes, life starts at 40 and I can guarantee you that mine passed a long time ago. I pray that God gives me a long life, good health, and peace in our country which is now 60 years as well," he stated.

Uhuru also declined to reveal what he has been up to and where he has been going, even though he was pressed to disclose more.

Kihumba asked him to choose a special song in tribute to his special day, and being a staunch reggae fan, he settled on I Got You Babe by his favourite band - UB40.

Uhuru has largely kept off the public spotlight, but his last public appearance was at the Azimio la Umoja interdenominational prayer service held in memory of those who lost their lives during the anti-government protests.

On Friday, July 28, Uhuru made a surprise appearance at the Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka (SKM) Command Centre in Karen driving his Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon by himself as the coalition held a requiem mass for those affected by police brutality during the protests.

Kenyatta joined his counterparts in laying flowers in honour of the deceased. After the interdenominational prayers, the leaders made contributions towards helping the victims and their families, whose loved ones either suffered injuries or lost their lives during the protests.

Uhuru and former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga contributed a total of Ksh2 million while Wiper Party Leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, chipped in Ksh500,000.

His last statement before today was during a meeting with news editors where he addressed several issues including his relationship with President William Ruto and the raid at his son's house.

"This gun issue is surrounded by lots of propaganda to divert attention from what has been happening," he told the senior journalists. "I believe they wanted to plant drugs and guns in my son's compound."
