Cape Media, which owns TV47 and Radio 47, has announced the appointment of Willis Raburu as Director of Digital Services and Innovations.

Following his new appointment on Monday, December 18, Raburu will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and will be responsible for driving the continuous evolution of TV47, Radio 47 and 47 Digital products.

Willis holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Sciences from Moi University and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Communication Studies with a focus on Strategic Corporate Communications at USIU.

"Raburu will be tasked with developing a comprehensive strategy and roadmap for the design, development, and maintenance of brand 47 digital products and presence.

"One of his primary objectives will be to enhance the overall user experience, ensuring seamless interactions across our digital platforms," part of the communique read.

“We are pleased to have Raburu on board. He will bring a valuable strategic skill set of performance and brand-building digital capabilities to the team,” stated Wilson Mbugua, Director of Operations at Cape Media.

The appointment signifies Cape Media’s dedication to staying at the forefront of digital trends and providing an unparalleled user experience for its audience.

On Monday, October 30, Raburu announced his resignation from the position of Chairperson of the Nairobi Festival Committee, a position he had landed in July 2023.

The media personality however noted that the decision was driven by a recognition of the pressing need for systemic change to enhance the effectiveness of the county's service delivery and leadership.

"It is clear that to better serve the county and its residents, a more comprehensive look at existing systems is essential, which to be fair, have already been instituted and I wish them all the best in this regard," he stated.

In the role, he was responsible for managing media relations and developing contacts with media members, influencers, and community leaders, as well as leading a team of communication, marketing, and design professionals and assisting in the creation of digital, video, audio and print content.

Following his exit from the county job, Raburu is fully concentrating on his TV47 job where he currently hosts Wabebe XP, a music magazine show he has presented since joining the station in August 2023.

He quit Citizen TV in June this year.
