Former socialite cum entrepreneur Faith Makau, alias Amber Ray, has denounced rumours that she and her baby daddy businessman, Kennedy Rapudo, had parted ways due to his incapability of paying Ksh270,000 rent for their duplex apartment in Kilimani, Nairobi.

In a series of statements on her Instagram stories on Tuesday, November 14, the mother of two made it clear that they separated owing to their differences within their relationship and not regarding their eviction from their house as the rumours alleged.

She explained that she and Rapudo had not been evicted from their shared home because they could not pay rent, adding that they were not clout-chasing when they decided to go their separate ways.

"Firstly, Ken and I separated because of our differences, not because we couldn't keep our house afloat. And it was certainly a clout chase," she commented on what she termed as a sensitive matter.

"I do not clout chase, especially not with personal matters. Despite most people already aware of what happened, it is still a private matter, and it is one that is being sorted out."

According to her, paying hundreds of thousands of shillings for their rent was a non-issue, but Amber Ray moved out in the middle of the month and Rapudo followed suit as he saw no need to live in the expansive duplex by himself.

"Second, the rent was never an issue. I moved out mid-month, and Ken did a while after. It would make no sense for him to stay in a 5-bedroom house alone.

"That said, the rent for both our current apartments combined far exceeds the rent we used to pay in that house. So, we never had arrears and were not kicked out," Amber wrote.

Amber seized the opportunity to clarify that she was not out to justify herself but she could not risk ruining her reputation based on false information, adding that people should mind their own business.

"So please have some grace and kindness, we are both human beings and have struggles just like anyone else. The best thing to do is to have positive energy around you, and that is what I want to give and receive.

"In a world full of negativity and chaos, doing good to others goes a long way to making it easier. A lot can change in your life if you choose to put a smile on someone else's face. So I hope that the positive energy I choose to give to everyone reflects back tenfold because God knows I need it," she concluded.

On Monday, October 16, Rapudo stunned Kenyans by confessing that he assaulted his fiancée Amber, a matter which triggered their latest breakup.

While details surrounding the incident were initially private, with some believing them to be an act of clout chasing, Rapudo confirmed that they separated over an incident that occurred on Friday, October 13.

Noting that their marriage wasn't as perfect as Kenyans had perceived it to be, he admitted that the altercation that occurred on Friday night began while he and Amber were both under the influence.

“Yes, we’ve separated over an event that happened while we were both intoxicated on the night of [October] 13. It’s an event that should have never happened, and I feel very sorry and deeply regret that it happened, mostly to the person that I swore to protect and love with all that I had," he wrote.

However, Rapudo emphasized that the isolated incident did not form part and parcel of his character, seemingly pinning blame on his now estranged fiancée for publicising the separation despite it being the only incident that has happened between them.

“What caught me by surprise is the manner in which the writer chose her words! ‘One single isolated’ incident doesn’t mean that I’m a violent person. I’ve never been and I never will be!" Rapudo defended.

"I’m raising two beautiful girls, and I will never advocate for any domestic violence or Gender-Based Violence. I am man enough to admit when I’m on the wrong, and on this ‘1’ particular incident, I was on the wrong, but it doesn’t change who I am.”

On her part, Amber stated "I know it will be a long couple of days/weeks for me, but I'd rather be at peace inside than project a false haven on the outside. I'd rather speak my truth than let gossip tarnish what I have built for myself and my family thus far. Things in my household have not been okay... but they will be. My family will be okay. And eventually, I will be okay."

Amber is yet to speak on the physical altercation that led to their breakup despite the two thereafter being spotted together on November 4.
