Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Aisha Jumwa's Loresho-based home was on Wednesday, February 15 raided by armed men who made away with valuables.

A police report revealed that the incident was brought to their attention by one of the officers attached to the CS's security detail.

Under O/B number 3/15/02/2023, the armed trio used a well-executed scheme to gain access to her compound.

It goes on to state that a group of three men, armed with crude weapons, cut through the compound's electric perimeter wall and gained entry into the main house through the back door, which was reportedly unlocked.

Once inside, the gang ransacked the house, stealing gold, jewellery, laptops and other accessories from the master bedroom at the upper floor.

In daring circumstances, the two then crept into the bedroom where CS Jumwa's two daughters were sleeping and engaged them in a scuffle before robbing them of Ksh1.1 million, three mobile phones and jewellery of unknown value.

One of Jumwa's daughters sustained injuries during the incident.

“This looks like an incident committed by people who knew what they wanted and knew there were no police officers in the compound,” Nairobi regional police commander Adamson Bungei told the press.

Reports indicated that the incident occurred at around 1:45 pm while the Public Affairs CS was on official duty.

Police have since launched a manhunt for the suspects and are appealing to the public to come forward with any information that could lead to their arrest.

The investigation is ongoing, and more details are expected to emerge as the police carry out their probe on the incident that left fresh questions regarding the security around Cabinet Secretaries and at their residences.

It has also raised questions about the safety of public officials and the general public, given the rising cases of insecurity in the country.

During her vetting, CS Jumwa disclosed that her net worth is at Ksh100 million, which she derives from pensions in Parliament.

While breaking down her wealth, she stated that her houses in Nairobi and Malindi amount to Ksh85 million, two motor vehicles and a motorcycle whose value was not revealed.
