Homicide detectives are seeking a man who was captured on CCTV cameras accompanying British national Campbell Scott in Westlands, Nairobi before he was reported missing and later found dead.

This is as they questioned several suspects in a bid to rein in on Scott's killers. Scott was found dead in Makueni County, his body, wrapped in a sack, in Makongo Forest—about 96 kilometres from where he was last seen.

Detectives are actively tracking down key suspects linked to the brutal murder of the foreign national, who have been identified as persons of interest in the case.

Authorities are focusing on two men believed to have been with the British national at a hotel in Nairobi’s Westlands shortly before his disappearance. One of the individuals, seen on CCTV footage at 4:36 p.m. on Sunday, was captured leaving the hotel alongside Scott.

Police are now working to locate him for questioning. Authorities suspect that the same individual arranged a taxi and accompanied the deceased to Nairobi’s Pipeline estate on Monday, February 17. Five days later, Scott’s decomposing body was found dumped in the Makongo Forest.

Police have since arrested the taxi driver who transported Scott and the suspect to Pipeline, recorded his statement, and later released him on police bond. However, the vehicle remains in police custody for further examination.

As part of the ongoing probe, crime scene investigators spent Tuesday, February 25 combing through Makongo Forest, where the body was discovered, to reconstruct Scott’s final moments.

A key witness who first spotted the body wrapped in a sack on Saturday has also given a statement to homicide detectives.

Initially, there was uncertainty about whether the body belonged to the missing 58-year-old. Notably, the body was severely decomposed, indicating that Scott might have died hours or even days before being discovered.

His hands and legs were tied with a green nylon rope, indicating that he may have been killed elsewhere before his body was dumped in the forest in Makueni County. Authorities retrieved the body and transported it to Nairobi for identification, where it was confirmed to be that of Campbell Scott.

Meanwhile, authorities are preparing for an autopsy while conducting a forensic analysis of Scott’s mobile phone and bank accounts to determine whether any financial transactions occurred before his murder.

Investigators are collaborating with UK authorities, as Scott had travelled from the UK to Kenya on February 16 for a business meeting, only to vanish the following day. He had arrived in Kenya for a three-day conference and was last seen on Sunday, February 16, walking out of the JW Marriott hotel in Westlands.

During his stay in Kenya, Scott was set to meet with officials from several countries, including the UK, the US, and other African nations.
