Environment Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya's estranged husband, former Narok Member of County Assembly (MCA) Stephen Ole Kudate, made a series of explosive claims on Friday, November 17 in response to a lawsuit filed by Tuya against him.

Kudate in response to an application filed by Tuya seeking upkeep and child maintenance, began by claiming that the CS had chased him out of their matrimonial home in Kileleshwa, Nairobi when she was appointed to office in 2022 by President William Ruto.

He revealed that they were legally married having observed all traditional marriage rites, further confirming that they sired two children who in his side of the story, have not been neglected as purported by Tuya.

“As the head of the family, I was a man of means who provided adequately, and she knows that I am jobless, but with the little I have, I effectively play my parental role,” he said.

According to Kudate, he was deliberately denied by the CS from seeing the children and excluded from participating in their children's welfare.

Furthermore, the former MCA sensationally claimed that Tuya had been having a romantic and sexual relationship with her official driver, a matter he said he would base on during his cross-examination of Tuya when the matter is heard.

“The sexual relationship between Tuya and her official driver is a mask for other sexual relationships with other high-ranking individuals in the society,” he went on.

CS Tuya moved to court in October this year seeking custody of their two children and Ksh525,000 in upkeep, claiming her estranged husband was being violent to her and the children, as well as treating domestic workers with contempt.

Kudate however denied the claims, accusing Tuya of being verbally violent and unruly, and thus asked the court not to grant the orders sought by the CS, arguing that he is in a better position to have custody of the minors

He claimed that their mother is never at home to interact with them, alluding to her series of trips made both within Kenya and abroad, adding they have been forced under the care of domestic employees who include drivers.

“I have taken care of her. She is out to frustrate me and wreck my life just as she did to the first husband from Kajiado, who took her for her Masters degree in Law in the United States after which she abandoned and dumped him,” he lamented.

“Her myriad of local and international trips are subjecting the children to loneliness and neglect. They lack parental care and guidance and a father figure as they have been forced to live with strangers, drivers, house helps and relatives because she has scarce time with them."

Court papers revealed that Tuya agreed to marry Kudate despite the knowledge of the existence of another wife when he was thriving as the Majority leader of the Narok County Assembly.

Kudate claimed to have provided for all the children, denying rejecting his duties as a parent and accusing Tuya of restricting his access to the children even to treat them to vacations after closing school.

“She has gone to the extent of denying me access to children to take them for a holiday when schools are closed,” he slammed.

He expressed willingness to take a DNA test to establish the paternity of all the children involved.

According to Kudate, the two have a divorce matter pending in court. Tuya accused him of failing to meet his obligations since they split in October 2020.
