"I want to urge foreigners and Kenyans at large to obey the law. I'm going to discharge my duties professionally and with integrity.

"As a service, we shall adhere to the constitution. My phone number is 0722415419, any member of the public can reach me," he stated.

The move was largely seen as a paradigm shift from former DCI boss George Kinoti, amongst the predecessors who opted to avail toll numbers to Kenyans reporting criminal activities. It also earned Amin praise from Kenyans.

During the ceremony, Koome urged Amin to respect the rule of law, expressing confidence in his ability to properly run the agency.

"I have no doubt in my mind that the new DCI Director will execute his constitutional mandate with effectiveness and it will bear a positive impact given that you are a distinguished professional with experience counting to 33 years," she stated.

Hours after his appointment on Saturday, October 15, he promised that he will conduct his duties professionally and respect the rule of law. He also expressed his gratitude to President Ruto and the NPSC for showing confidence in him.

"I want to promise my fellow Kenyans that I will run the DCI in the most professional manner possible. I will be firm and fair in executing my duties while observing the rule of law, knowing that our Constitution is the Supreme law of the land.

"Finally, I will ensure that we adhere to constitutional rights and fundamental freedoms," he revealed.
