Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mohamed Amin, has accused former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of dramatising serious security issues.
Speaking to journalists on Saturday, April 19, Amin slammed Gachagua for using the media to showcase theatrics regarding serious security concerns.
Reacting to Gachagua's recent assassination allegations, Amin urged the former Deputy President to use proper legal procedures and file a formal report at the nearest police station.
Amin also expressed his support for the National Police Service’s (NPS) statement on the matter, emphasising that security agencies are dedicated to safeguarding all citizens impartially, regardless of political affiliation.

"If the former Deputy President has an issue in matters constituting a threat to his life and property, he should go and report to the nearest police station and not engage himself in media theatrics," Amin commented.
"Any report, just like other citizens of the country, will be investigated to its logical conclusion. I associate myself fully with the sentiments of the Inspector General and encourage him to report the matter to his nearest police station."
Amin added that once the Deputy President submits a formal report, his allegations will be thoroughly investigated, and he will be accorded the same fair treatment as any other citizen when he presents himself at a police station.
NPS, in response to Gachagua's claims that his life is in danger, on Tuesday, April 15 urged him to inform the police about his travel plans so they can coordinate and arrange appropriate security measures.
Additionally, Nyaga affirmed that in fulfilling its mandate, the NPS is obligated under Article 244(c) of the Constitution to uphold human rights and fundamental freedoms, further reaffirming to Kenyans its unwavering commitment to constitutional impartiality, serving all persons without political bias.
Beforehand, Gachagua claimed that the IG wanted to leave him vulnerable to attacks by organised gangs, hence the withdrawal of his security.
"Reference is made to the above subject matter for your immediate action and attention regarding my security, that of my family, my supporters and my property. As you are aware, you have a constitutional responsibility and duty to protect the life and property of every Kenyan as enshrined in the Constitution of Kenya 2010. However, in this case, Mr. Kanja, you are clearly perpetuating crime and violence," he wrote in part.
"Further, take note of your constitutional establishment under article 245 of the CoK and more specifically 245(2)(b) on independent command of the National Police Service. This is as you dine in the oligarchy and anarchism of the current unpopular regime. Might it have been forgotten to you IG, I served as the Member of Parliament for Mathira Constituency from the year 2017- 2022 after which I was elected on a joint ticket with H. E. President William Ruto serving as the 2nd Deputy President of The Republic of Kenya from 13th September, 2022 up to and until the sham impeachment in 2024 on flimsy and trumped-up charges by the sponsors well known to you. You withdrew my security in a clear, thought-out scheme and backwards conspiracy to make me vulnerable to organised criminal gangs in cahoots with the Police and other Security Agencies and have been implementing the scheme."
To this end, Gachagua demanded that IG Kanja immediately arrest and prosecute the perpetrators of violence and provide security in all public gatherings that he attends as a leader in the country.
Further, Gachagua demanded that the Police IG provide him with security with immediate effect and cease and desist from interfering with peaceful gatherings of citizens. He also demanded that officers from the National Intelligence Service (NIS) and other security agencies immediately stop stalking and trailing him and his family members.
Additionally, he called for the protection of his homes and property.
