"The blackguard who could not live up to the oath of office for police officers tucked away after several of his accomplices were either arrested or fell by the gun in various robbery encounters with police.

"Ruoro's name became particularly apparent in the Matuu bank robbery incident in July 2021, when his gang of five robbed the bank & disappeared with two AK47 rifles disarmed by officers manning it," stated the DCI in part.

The sleuths added that a series of stealth operations had been conducted to neutralize the gang and its affiliated groups, in the course of which one of the rifles was recovered and several arrests made.

"In DCI's endeavour to sanitize the streets of gangsters and scrupulously hunt for guns in the wrong hands, the 2nd AK47 rifle was recovered at Takaungu area in Kilifi County yesterday, in an operation that extended to Gilgil where Ruoro was cornered and arrested," added the DCI.

Preliminary investigations have so far linked him to 9 robbery incidents reported in Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi and Machakos counties.

The suspect is being processed for arraignment with detectives advancing their investigations to nab more accomplices.

The thugs at the time had stormed the bank at 9:00 am and injured two police officers guarding the institution and stole an unknown amount of money from tellers and customers who were present at the banking hall.
