Renowned disc jockey Joseph Munoru AKA DJ Joe Mfalme on Tuesday, April 9 responded to the backlash he received after he and his other team members were released in the case against the murder of senior DCI cop Felix Kelian, but at the expense of his hypeman.

In an interview with Milele FM's Ankali Ray, DJ Mfalme stated that he had nothing to worry about as the public would always have something to comment on even when they don't know the full details of the ongoing murder case.

The entertainer, who was released from remand on Monday, April 8 alongside six others, came under fire from netizens who accused him of betraying his hypeman while seeking his freedom, with the DJ being labelled a 'snitch'.

A snitch is an informal term for a person who secretly tells someone in authority that someone else has done something bad.

DJ Mfalme insisted that he is on good terms with his hypeman, Allan Ochieng, alias Hype Balo, who is set to face murder charges.

"People don't know the story; the matter is in court right now so I won't talk about it. But you know public opinion is okay. I am okay being called a snitch because Ballo and I are on good terms, although we are not in communication because of the nature of the case," Joe assured.

Regarding the time he spent in detention, Joe said he was supported by many friends who constantly showed up to support him.

"It's just a matter of staying calm to relax because you can't do much when the investigations are ongoing. People showed up, I was even overwhelmed; I appreciated it very much," Mfalme noted.

Joe has already embarked on his work and is already in motion as he says work must continue.

A schedule shared by the DJ revealed that he is set to perform on Wednesday, April 10 at an entertainment joint at Mirema Drive, Nairobi. This will be followed by three performances in a row in Mombasa and Kilifi between April 12 and April 14.

The DJ and six other co-accused appeared before Kibera Law Courts, which ruled on Monday, April 8 that the six, including three police officers, shall be made state witnesses. They had all been detained for 14 days as police concluded investigations into the matter.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) confirmed this development after it reportedly advised in a letter dated April 5, 2024, that the six be witnesses in the case.

The prosecution, led by Prosecution Counsel Michael Mutune stated that the investigations by the DCI were concluded and there was not enough evidence to charge DJ Mfalme and his co-accused.

Meanwhile, for Ballo, different MCs from across the country have come out to show solidarity with him even as the murder case against him as the main suspect behind the murder of the senior Kabete sleuth is set to begin.

Initially labelled as a bouncer by the prosecution, the entertainers have come out stating that Ballo is not a bouncer and that he is innocent.
