Police in Transmara West on Saturday, June 24 recovered a vehicle belonging to former Treasury official Tom Mokaya Osinde, who went missing on Sunday, June 18.

The vehicle was found dumped in Kilgoris, Transmara West, Narok, according to his family who alleged that it was vandalised and abandoned.

Osinde, who lives in Ngata Farm, Nakuru, is the brother of the late Ambassador Ken Nyauncho Osinde, who served in Germany between 2010 and 2014. He was reported missing on his way from Nakuru en route to Kisii.

The news of his vanishing was first shared by Radio Citizen's Fred Obachi Machoka on Facebook who expressed worry regarding Osinde's disappearance.

"Just received worrying news about an old friend of mine gone missing!!! Kindly help trace this gentleman," he appealed.

"The most important thing is to help bring him back alive. As of now, everyone is putting efforts to ensure that our kin is back safe and sound," one of Osinde's family members told the media.

The family further stated that they had recorded statements with the police and there was flawless cooperation amongst everyone in the ongoing investigations.

A police report revealed that the car, a black Toyota Landcruiser V8, was found abandoned around Kilgoris and already vandalized before it was towed to the nearby police station.

The family had also revealed that there was no one who they would immediately suspect of having endangered their kin or damaged his car.

Public records showed that Osinde studied Economics at the University of Nairobi and transitioned to the Treasury Department after his graduation, where he worked for several years.

He left the Treasury in 2010 to start his own business and his success saw him acquire a large property in Ngata, Farm, Nakuru.

Osinde was well-known for his expertise in financial management and was well-respected by his colleagues.

He was also a philanthropist who donated generously to various charities and was often described by his family as a kind and generous man who was loved by his family and friends.

The mystery disappearance is yet to be known with family members appealing to members of the public or anyone aware of his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station.
