Wetangula Tells Off Peter Salasya In Front Of Ruto Over Rant On SHA
Salasya began by taking full advantage of the President's arrival at his constituency to speak his mind in a passionate rant

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula on Monday, January 20 responded to Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya who provided a highlight of the day as he openly called out William Ruto's administration in front of the President.
Ruto was in Mumias for the historic commissioning of the first-ever bonus payments to sugarcane farmers, with several dignitaries from Western Kenya in attendance. The bonuses being issued were a result of robust reforms aimed at revamping the once-thriving sugar sector.
Among the dignitaries were Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, Governor Fernandes Barasa, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, and Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi among others.
Salasya began by taking full advantage of the President's arrival at his constituency to speak his mind in a passionate rant, going after government systems he deemed faulty.
Mr. President, the people close to you are telling you SHA (Social Health Authority) is working when it is not working- Peter Salasya

The lawmaker even went on to advise the President to hire- not more advisors- but new advisors, accusing some Kenya Kwanza leaders of ill-advising the Head of State.
"I want us to ask one thing, where is the money we are giving these farmers coming from? We need to know where it has come from because it was not on our budget," the vocal lawmaker said.
He added, "When you involve stakeholders, things will work. Because we never involve stakeholders in public health decisions. I want to ask you Mr President to hire me as your advisor because your people are not being honest with you."
Salasya further claimed sensationally...without naming anyone...and in front of the president...that his government was being run down by cartels, who posed a danger to his administration's legacy.
"Mr. President, hire me as one of your advisors because the people close to you are not telling you the truth. They're telling you SHA (Social Health Authority) is working when it is not working.
"The new University funding model is not working. I know you have the heart to help the country but there are cartels and traitors within your government. They don't want you to know the truth," he added.
While referencing the recent revisions in the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), Salasya also challenged the president to ease the financial burden on the ordinary Kenyan.
Wetangula however watered down his remarks, affirming that anyone complaining that the new healthcare program is not working should register first.
“As the speaker, I used to pay Ksh1,500 to the defunct NHIF. But with SHA, I’m paying Ksh58,000 per month. If I get sick, I will not be covered by SHA. The money I pay is to help you because, as Parliamentarians, we have another insurance fund.
“Don’t be on the forefront saying SHA is not working and you have not been registered. Go and get registered and if it is not working, you are legitimately right to complain,” Wetang’ula remarked.
The speaker called on the unity and patience of Kenyans even as he asked the public to criticize the government respectfully.
