Police on Monday, January 29 detained four Nigerian nationals in connection to the tragic death of a 25-year-old man in the Riruta area, Nairobi. He was reported to have fallen off the fifth floor of a balcony in the residential area.
The victim, identified as Charles Waga Otieno, works at a nearby car wash and was said to have been delivering a carpet to the individuals when the incident happened at Corner Heights Apartments, Naivasha Road.
Witnesses revealed that the deceased had arrived at the apartment to deliver a carpet to a section of Nigerians living on the 7th floor, to which they reportedly paid him Ksh400 for the task.
Moments later, however, the victim was heard screaming, undressing, and ultimately leaping from the fifth floor to the ground floor, sustaining severe head injuries.

Law enforcement officers discovered Otieno's personal belongings, including his mobile phone, earring, and cap, scattered along the path leading from the apartment where he made the delivery.
Curiously, Otieno was found without his trousers, a matter which bewildered officers and raised questions surrounding the circumstances that led to the tragic incident.
“The victim was only found with his t-shirt on and did not have his pants,” an officer at the scene told the media.
Neighbours further observed that the Nigerians seemed unbothered by the ordeal, further intensifying the mystery surrounding Otieno's death.
A closer inspection of the apartment's balcony revealed railings deemed too high for someone to simply jump off, casting doubt on the initial description provided by the suspects.
Emergency services rushed him to Coptic Hospital, where he was declared dead upon arrival. Meanwhile, the four foreign nationals are being held at Satellite Police Station pending ongoing investigations by the police, who are treating the case as a homicide.
The motive behind the victim’s decision to jump to his death while naked remains unclear. The body has been transferred to the mortuary, awaiting an autopsy.
Those who knew him said that he was a budding rapper but had to work at the neighbourhood car wash to be able to hack a living.
Notably, two Nigerian nationals were arrested in connection to the brutal killing of 20-year-old Rita Waeni at a short-stay apartment in Roysambu, Nairobi as her killer is still at large.
The Nigeria High Commission in Kenya has issued an advisory on false accusations and attacks on its citizens after local media and social media reports pointed an accusing finger towards Nigerians for the femicide crimes among other heinous crimes that have sparked public outrage one month into 2024.
