The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is appealing to members of the public to provide information leading to the arrest of a woman suspected to have killed Nairobi Hospital Acting Finance Director Eric Maigo in Woodley Estate, Nairobi County.

The DCI shared screengrabs of CCTV footage capturing the woman leaving Maigo's residence by vaulting over the perimeter wall, not minding the barbed wires put in place for extra security.

"Following the gruesome murder of Dr Erick Maigo, in the wee hours of Friday, September 15, 2023,  detectives are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of the woman whose images appear below.

"The suspect who was captured leaving the victim's residence at Woodley Annex -Upper is believed to have been involved in the murder most foul before escaping through the back door," stated the DCI in part on Thursday, September 21.

Two blood-stained knives believed to have been the murder weapons were recovered from the scene of the crime.

"As detectives burn the midnight oil to arrest the female suspect, members of the public are requested to volunteer any information that may lead to her immediate arrest," appealed the DCI.

Maigo was on Friday, September 15 found dead in his home in Woodley Estate, Nairobi County, lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds.

Kilimani Police Station boss Moss Ndiwa initially revealed that Maigo's body had 10 stab wounds to the chest and the others to his sides. However, an autopsy conducted at the Lee Funeral Home on Saturday, September 16 revealed that Maigo had 25 stab wounds that caused his death.

“We calculated and found he had 25 stab wounds. This caused both external and internal bleeding,” said chief government pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor who noted that some vital organs were ruptured by the stabs in the attack.

So far only one suspect has been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder. The suspect identified as Cynthia Lusega Andalo was arrested and arraigned under miscellaneous application on Monday afternoon where police were allowed to hold her for five days as investigations continue.

Detectives believe she might have knowledge or worked with the main suspect as they were together earlier on the night of Maigo’s murder in his Woodley house. It was also established that Maigo’s killer used two kitchen knives in the bedroom attack.

According to phone records and CCTV footage analysis, Maigo was last Thursday evening seen at a popular entertainment club just recently opened along Ngong Road. It is here that he met three women including Andalo.

Police visited the club as part of the efforts to identify all those who met him at the joint. It was then they identified Andalo. The officers are yet to know and get two others, who detectives believe include the main suspect.

An analysis of Maigo’s mobile phone showed he sent money to a number of people prior to his death. Among the transactions, Andalo was in receipt of Ksh650 from Maigo.

According to the police, Maigo is then seen walking out in the company of a woman who is believed to be the main suspect. Phone records show they further went to another entertainment joint along Kilimani Road before going home around quarter past 10 pm.

Two kitchen knives recovered next to Maigo’s body bore similar sets of fingerprints, proving that Maigo’s killer used two knives. Detectives are however yet to establish whether she stabbed him with both knives simultaneously or one after another.

With nothing stolen from Maigo’s house and 25 stab wounds on his chest, neck and face, detectives are inclined towards a crime of passion, or a killer with so much rage.

Samples were collected from the body for further analysis and toxicology tests to establish if he was poisoned before the murder as he bore no defence injuries.
