Hot & Wet: Kenyans Warned Of Heavy Rainfall, High Temperatures This Week

Kenya is set to witness continued rainfall across several regions in the coming week, with high temperatures also anticipated, according to the latest forecast by the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD).
According to Kenya Met, Kenyans should expect intense rainfall and fluctuating temperatures, with nighttime lows potentially dropping below 10°C.
The agency predicts isolated heavy rainfall across various regions, including the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, Southeastern Lowlands, the Coast, and parts of Northeastern and Northwestern Kenya.

Meanwhile, residents in Coastal, Northeastern, and Northwestern Kenya have been warned to expect scorching daytime temperatures exceeding 30°C over the next six days, from Tuesday, March 25 to Monday, March 31.
Regional Weather Outlook
Kenya's capital of Nairobi will experience moderate temperatures between 20°C and 25°C, with continued heavy rainfall expected to reach between 50mm and 70mm.
In Nakuru and Eldoret, cooler conditions are forecasted, with temperatures ranging from 17°C to 20°C.
As for Kiambu, Machakos, Mwingi, Murang’a, Kirinyaga and Narok, rainfall is expected to be significant, ranging between 70mm and 100mm.
The areas of Bomet, Kisii, Siaya, Vihiga, Kakamega, Migori and Tharaka are set to experience even higher rainfall amounts, averaging over 100mm.
In Kisumu, residents will face warmer temperatures similar to coastal regions, with daytime highs between 25°C and 30°C.
However, Garissa, Mandera, and Lamu are forecasted to endure extreme heat, with temperatures soaring above 35°C, prolonging an ongoing heatwave that could pose significant challenges.
Similarly, Kitui, Machakos, and Makueni will see temperatures ranging from 25°C to over 30°C, while Turkana, Lodwar, and parts of Samburu will continue to experience extreme heat, with highs exceeding 35°C.
Meanwhile, Nyeri, Meru, and Embu in the Central Highlands will remain relatively cool, with temperatures between 17°C and 25°C. However, most of Central Kenya is not expected to record significant rainfall over the next six days.
