The African Nations Championship (CHAN) is just less than two weeks away, with Kenyans now growing impatient regarding how they can purchase tickets to watch the Harambee Stars in action on home soil.

Spot checks by Viral Tea on popular ticketing platform Mookh, which has been revealed as one of the platforms for purchasing tickets, revealed that sales were meant to open by today, Tuesday, July 22. However, this has now been pushed to Wednesday, July 23, from 12 am.

To purchase, Kenyans can log into the website chan.mookh.com when sales eventually open. Even with the minor delay, fans will still have ample time to purchase tickets for all of Harambee Stars’ group matches, all of which are set to be held at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

The 8th edition, known as the 2024 CHAN, is set to take place from August 2 to August 30, following a rescheduling from early 2025.

This tournament will be historic, as it is the first time CHAN is being jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. For Kenyans, this is perhaps a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to catch the games as all of the national team's group games will be played at home.

CHAN Local Organising Committee (LOC) chairman Nicholas Musonye had previously confirmed that all tickets will be sold exclusively online. Regular tickets will be priced at Ksh 200, VIP seats at Ksh 500, and VVIP passes at Ksh 1,000. This is still the case as per the ticketing platform ahead of sales going live on July 23.

A total of 19 teams will participate, split into four groups—three groups will each have five teams, while one group will have four teams. The top two teams from each group will move on to the quarter-finals.

Harambee Stars will begin their 2024 CHAN campaign on August 3 with a match against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) at the refurbished Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani. Kenyans going to this game will get to experience a new look of the stadium, complete with seats all around and a new canopy.

Benni McCarthy’s squad will then face Angola on August 7, followed by a highly anticipated clash against Morocco on August 10, all set to take place at the same stadium.

In addition to Harambee Stars’ fixtures, Kenya’s two main stadiums will stage several major group matches from August 3 to August 18. Nyayo Stadium will host key games including Morocco vs Angola (August 3), DRC vs Zambia (August 7), Zambia vs Angola (August 10), Morocco vs Zambia (August 14), DRC vs Morocco (August 17), and Algeria vs Niger (August 18).

The Angola vs DRC fixture on August 15 will be played at the Moi International Sports Centre, the only game besides Harambee Stars that will be played here.

Kenya's ticket prices, although affordable, are the most expensive compared to those of Uganda and Tanzania. Uganda caps match ticket prices at Ksh 130 for Regular seats, Ksh 260 for VIP, and Ksh 390 for VVIP access. In Tanzania, fans will pay Ksh 50 for Regular tickets, Ksh 130 for VIP, and Ksh 230 for VVIP seats.
